The Pregnant Concert
''The Pregnant Concert'' is a live recording of a recital by American rock band Rasputina held at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on September 13, 2009 (although the album cover claims it to have been 1909). It contains songs from various previous Rasputina albums, covers of a variety of other musicians, and the songs "Holocaust of Giants" and "Kinderhook Hoopskirt Works" from their then upcoming album ''Sister Kinderhook''. As the album title implies, frontwoman Melora Creager was pregnant with her second daughter at the time of the recording. The band asserts that "''If you listen very carefully, you might hear Ivy singing with Melora.''". The photographs are by Dese'Rae L. Stage. Rasputina (band)
Rasputina is an American rock band based in New York City, known for their unconventional music style, as well as their fascination with historical allegories and fashion, especially those pertaining to the Victorian era. The group is fronted by cellist/vocalist Melora Creager, who writes the music and lyrics and creates art for the band's albums, singles, and website. History In 1989, Creager wrote a manifesto, and placed an ad in The Village Voice seeking women to form an electric cello choir. Julia Kent, then an editor at the Village Voice, was the first respondent. The original group of nine was whittled to three. They named themselves "Rasputina", after one of Creager's songs. Creedence Clearwater Revival, also referred to as Creedence and CCR, was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and later as the Golliwogs, before settling on Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967. "Bad Moon Rising" is a song written by John Fogerty and performed by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was the lead single from their album ''Green River'' and was released in April 16, 1969 four months before the album. The Undertones
The Undertones are a rock band formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1974. From 1975 to 1983, the Undertones consisted of Feargal Sharkey (vocals), John O'Neill (rhythm guitar, vocals), Damian O'Neill (lead guitar, vocals), Michael Bradley (bass, vocals) and Billy Doherty (drums). Much of the earlier Undertones material drew influence from punk rock and new wave; the Undertones also incorporated elements of rock, glam rock and post-punk into material released after 1979, before citing soul and Motown as the influence for the material released upon their final album. "Teenage Kicks" is the debut single by Northern Irish punk rock band the Undertones. Written in the summer of 1977 by the band's principal songwriter, the song was recorded on 15 June 1978 and initially released that September on independent Belfast record label Good Vibrations, before the band signed to Sire Records on 2 October 1978. Julia Kent is a Canadian cellist and composer from Vancouver, Canada, and based in New York City, United States. She has performed as a member of Rasputina and with Antony and the Johnsons. Musical career Kent creates music using looped cello, found sounds, and electronics. In 2007, she released her first solo album, ''Delay'', on Important Records. An EP, ''Last Day in July'', was released in 2010, and a second full-length record, ''Green and Grey'', in 2011, on Tin Angel. Sunforest (band)
Sunforest was an American-English psychedelic folk music trio. It was formed in 1968 by Terry Tucker, Erika Eigen and Freya Hogue. They recorded only one album, '' Sound of Sunforest'' on Decca Records. They are best known for their instrumental musical piece "Overture to the Sun" and their song "Lighthouse Keeper", which were featured on the soundtrack to ''A Clockwork Orange''. History Little is known about the trio but the liner notes of their album and the personal website of Terry Tucker provide some information. Sunforest began in Washington DC, in the late 1960s.
