''The Prairie'' is a 1947 American Western film based on the novel '' The Prairie'' by James Fenimore Cooper. Frank Wisbar
Frank Wisbar (born Franz Wysbar 9 December 1899 – 17 March 1967) was a German film director and screenwriter. Born in Lithuania, Wisbar directed more than 20 films between 1932 and 1967 in Germany and the United States, as well as amassing many television credits. He created TV's ''Fireside Theatre'' and was the show's producer in addition to frequently directing and writing episodes. He was also a member of the jury at the 10th Berlin International Film Festival. Robert Lenard Lippert (March 31, 1909 – November 16, 1976) was an American film producer and cinema chain owner. He was president and chief operating officer of Lippert Theatres, Affiliated Theatres and Transcontinental Theatres, all based in San Francisco, and at his height, he owned a chain of 139 movie theaters. He helped finance more than 300 films, including the directorial debuts of Sam Fuller, James Clavell, and Burt Kennedy. His films include ''I Shot Jesse James'' (1949) and '' The Fly'' (1958) and was known as "King of the Bs". The Prairie (novel)
''The Prairie: A Tale'' (1827) is a novel by James Fenimore Cooper, the third novel written by him featuring Natty Bumppo. His fictitious frontier hero Bumppo is never called by his name, but is instead referred to as "the trapper" or "the old man." Chronologically ''The Prairie'' is the fifth and final installment of the '' Leatherstocking Tales'', though it was published before '' The Pathfinder'' (1840) and ''The Deerslayer'' (1841). It depicts Natty in the final year of his life still proving helpful to people in distress on the American frontier.
