The Populars Of Italy Tomorrow
The Populars of Italy Tomorrow (''I Popolari di Italia Domani'', PID) was a Christian-democratic political party in Italy whose power base was in Sicily. It is currently affiliated with Forza Italia. PID was launched on 28 September 2010 by five splinter deputies (four from Sicily and one from Campania) of the Union of the Centre (UdC) led by Francesco Saverio Romano, the UdC leader in Sicily. They dissented with the party's support to Raffaele Lombardo's fourth regional government and chose to vote in favour of Silvio Berlusconi in a vote of confidence on 29 September in the Chamber of Deputies. It was a damaging split for the UdC in Sicily, the party's historical stronghold, as 7 regional deputies out of 10 chose to follow Romano, additionally joined by a splinter from the Movement for the Autonomies, Lombardo's party. Francesco Saverio Romano
Francesco Saverio Romano (born 24 December 1964) is an Italian politician and lawyer. He served as the minister of agricultures in 2011 and a member of the Chamber of Deputies between 2001 and 2018. Early life and education Romano was born in Palermo on 24 December 1964. He holds a law degree, which he received from the University of Palermo in 1988. He was a board member of the Opera Universitaria. He joined the Christian Democracy party when he was a university student. Career Romano became a member of the provincial council of Palermo in 1990. From 1993 to 1994 he served as the councillor for viability. From 1997 to 2001 he was the president of IRCAC, a credit institution in Sicily. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies from his constituency, Bagheria, in 2001. He was the secretary of state for labour in the third cabinet of Silvio Berlusconi. Sicilian Regional Assembly
The Sicilian Regional Assembly is the legislative body of Sicily. While it has a long history as an autonomous entity, the modern Region of Sicily was established by Royal Decree on 15 May 1946, before the Italian Republic. The Regional Assembly has the widest legislative power in Italy and is the only regional assembly to have the title of "parliament" whose members are called "deputies" as are those in Rome. Extended Christian Pact
The Extended Christian Pact (''Patto Cristiano Esteso'', PACE) was a Christian-conservative political party in Italy founded by Gilberto Perri in 1994. The party takes example from the Christian Coalition in the United States and is one of the few examples of Christian right parties in Europe. Although most of its members are Evangelicals or Pentecostals, the party is not officially associated with any denomination. The party's founder and leader is Gilberto Perri, a Pentecostal pastor, who has been one of the founding members of Christian Coalition International with Pat Robertson in 1999. PACE has been affiliated to the House of Freedoms coalition and generally sides with the Italian centre-right. The fourth Berlusconi government was the 60th government of Italy, in office from 8 May 2008 to 16 November 2011. Calogero Antonio Mannino (born August 20, 1939 in Asmara) is an Italian politician and lawyer. He has been a member of the Christian Democracy and the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats.
