The Polar Bears
''The Polar Bears'' is a 2012 3D computer animated short film presented by The Coca-Cola Company, produced by Ridley Scott, written by David Reynolds, and directed by John Stevenson. The film features the voices of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Armie Hammer, Jonathan Adams, and Megyn Price. The film is based on Coca-Cola's iconic polar bears and was released on the company's website and YouTube channel on December 31, 2012. Plot Kaskae leads his family of polar bears across the Arctic Circle to give a speech to other polar bears. Jak, the troublemaker in the family, is given the task of looking after his little sister Kaia along with his elder brother Zook. Hearing part of Kaskae's speech about reaching new heights, Jak rushes to the peak of the tundra with Zook trailing him. John Stevenson (director)
John Stevenson (born 1958) is a British filmmaker and puppeteer. Stevenson has over 40 years of experience with animation. Life and career Stevenson worked as a story artist on the feature films ''The Great Muppet Caper'', ''The Dark Crystal'', ''Labyrinth (1986 film), Labyrinth'' and ''Little Shop of Horrors (film), Little Shop of Horrors'' and as a character designer and story artist on shows and films like ''The Dreamstone'', ''Count Duckula'', ''Back to the Future: The Animated Series'', ''The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat'', two of the ''Fox Tales'' specials and ''FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue''. The Coca-Cola polar bears are fictional polar bears used as mascots by the Coca-Cola Company. The animated characters have been a popular element in Coca-Cola advertising since 1993, and the company sells merchandise such as tumblers and plush bears. History The Coca-Cola Company first used a polar bear in a 1922 French advertisement depicting a bear squirting Coca-Cola into the mouth of a thirsty anthropomorphized sun. However, the use of the characters was sporadic until 1993.
