The Plot Thickens (The Jonbenét Album)
''The Plot Thickens'' is a compilation album of old and new tracks by American noise rock band The Jonbenét, released on July 26, 2005 via Pluto Records. It was the last release that Chris Goodwin was involved in before Wil Spent replaced him. The first three tracks were from a split with The Kidnap Soundtrack and letter were from ''Five Stories Retold''. The album was named "Best Heavy Sh*t" by Free Press Houston. The Jonbenét was one of the contenders for Best Hardcore/Screamo Band in the Houston Press Music Awards. The band produced a music video for the track "Behold, The White Whore." Background and recording The band got into a contract with Pluto Records and announced that they'll releasing an 8 song re-release of The Jonbenét's two recent releases, they also announced that they'll be touring. The Jonbenét
The Jonbenét was an American noise rock band formed in Houston, Texas in summer 2003. The group was named after the murdered child JonBenét Ramsey, who was widely publicized during the mid to late nineties. The band played their first show as Jonbenét on August 22, 2003, and after several self-released EPs and tours in the US and Canada, the band caught the attention of Pluto Records, an independent record label from Texas. '' The Plot Thickens'' was released on Pluto Records (2005). It was a re-mastered compilation of material from their self-released EPs and split 7-inch releases. The band released their first full-length entitled '' Ugly/Heartless'' (2006)''.'' Emerald Moon Records and Pluto Records worked together on a four part vinyl series and only two were released. On August 10, 2009, the band announced a string of final shows, insinuating the band will no longer continue. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise music, noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimal music, minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Pluto Records
Pluto Records is a record label started in 1999 by Eric Shirey and Brian Cobbel. Since 2002, it has been owned and operated by Brian Cobbel and based near Dallas, TX. It is primarily known for punk, metal and hardcore releases, although not exclusively. The label has been home and launching pad to such bands as Grammy-nominated metal act As I Lay Dying, HORSE the band, Luti-Kriss ( Norma Jean), Society's Finest and more. Pluto Records is currently a member of the Warner Music Group division of East West Records. Ugly/Heartless
''Ugly/Heartless'' is the debut studio album by American noise rock band The Jonbenét, released on August 26, 2005 via Pluto Records. The title was given as a result of a poll from the band's LiveJournal. The band produced a music video for "Why We're Dead" in fall 2006. "Devils" appeared in the band's 7" vinyl series ''Devil Music Volume 1'' on April 2007. Background and recording The debut was being worked on during '' The Plot Thickens,'' they finished writing their debut full-length in December 2005 and after the success of the compilation album, they started recording in January. Later, they announced that it will be called ''Ugly/Heartless'' and was scheduled to release on April 25.
