The Pin-Ups
The Pin-Ups were an incarnation of the independent band The Pin-Up Girls formed in 1995 by Mondo C. Castro along with Keltscross members Pamela Aquino and Jennifer Tan. Dubbed the "first Philippine-based band to sign with a U.S. label", The Pin-Ups are also included in a UK-based compilation album and have released a new single for 2015 in partnership with another U.S. indie label HolyZone Records. The band in all incarnations, according to musician and critic Aldus Santos, "have always delivered on the tunes: familiar, always with a dash of innocence, with no facetious tricks up their sleeves, infinitely hummable. Not the most dynamic of bands, certainly not the most technically adept, but these deficiencies are countered by an undeniable charm on musical fronts that matter: melodic, lyrical, structural." Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Fra Lippo Lippi (band)
Fra Lippo Lippi is a Norwegian band. They had several hits in the 1980s, such as "Shouldn't Have to Be Like That", "Everytime I See You" and " Light and Shade", and recorded a new album as late as 2002. The band name is derived from Robert Browning's poem about the Renaissance painter Filippo Lippi. History Fra Lippo Lippi was founded in Nesodden, Norway in 1980 by Rune Kristoffersen (bass, guitar, keyboards), Morten Sjøberg (drums, keyboards) and Bjørn Sorknes (bass, keyboards). They released a 4-track instrumental EP that year, titled ''Tap Dance for Scientists''. Two years prior, the group was writing and rehearsing under the name Genetic Control. Sugarfree is a Filipino rock band currently composed of Jal Taguibao on vocals and bass guitar, and Kaka Quisimbing on drums. Former notable members include chief songwriter and frontman Ebe Dancel on vocals and guitars, and Mitch Singson on drums. Sugarfree had five albums throughout the course of their career: ''Sa Wakas'' (2003), ''Dramachine'' (2004) and the repackaged version of ''Dramachine'' (2006), ''Tala-Arawan'' (2006), ''Sugarfree Live! with the Manila Symphony Orchestra'' (2008), and ''Mornings and Airports'' (2009), all under PolyEast Records (formerly known as EMI Philippines). Leinil Francis Yu (born 1977) is a People of the Philippines, Filipino comic book artist, who began working for the United States, American market through Wildstorm Productions. Career Leinil Francis Yu was first recognized after winning the ''Wizard: The Comics Magazine, Wizard''s Drawing Board Contest, his first published work. He was first hired by Whilce Portacio to do some work for Wildstorm and started his comic book artist's career on ''Aster: The Last Celestial Knight'' #3 (with Ronaldo Roxas) in the mid-1990s, but that work fell through. Portacio then passed on samples of Yu's work to Marvel Comics, who subsequently hired him to work on ''Wolverine (comic book), Wolverine''. Shinji Tanaka
is a former Japanese football player and manager. He played for Japan national team. Club career Tanaka was born in Saitama on September 25, 1960. After graduating from Chuo University, he joined Nissan Motors in 1983. The club won 1983 and 1985 Emperor's Cup. Diether Ocampo
Diether Pascual Ocampo (born July 19, 1973) is a Filipino actor, singer, and model. Background Ocampo was born on July 19, 1973 in Aniban, Bacoor, Cavite, where he attended school. He attended De La Salle University-Dasmarinas. He is of German, Spanish, and Chinese ancestry. He started out as a dancer before being discovered by ABS-CBN in the mid-1990s.
