The Pig's Law
''The Pig's Law'' (french: La Loi du cochon) is a Canadian crime comedy-drama film, directed by Érik Canuel and released in 2001. The film stars Isabel Richer and Catherine Trudeau as Stéphane and Bettie Brousseau, two sisters running a struggling pig farm in rural Quebec; they have rented part of their land out to a criminal marijuana smuggling ring led by Paquette (Sylvain Marcel), but run afoul of the smugglers when Stéphane sells part of the crop herself without their knowledge to pay off her mortgage debt before the farm is foreclosed. The film's cast also includes Christian Bégin, Jean-Nicolas Verreault, Stéphane Demers, Christopher Heyerdahl and Marie Brassard. Érik Canuel
Érik Canuel (born 1961) is a film director and actor from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Canuel, the son of actor Yvan Canuel, began his career in the mid-1980s making music videos for such artists as Paul Piché, Sass Jordan, Norman Iceberg, Vilain Pingouin and Sylvain Cossette. After shooting a number of TV commercials, several of them award-winners, he worked as a director on the television series ''Big Wolf on Campus'', for the Fox network, and ''The Hunger'', broadcast on Showtime and The Movie Network. In 2000, his Imax film ''Hemingway: A Portrait'' won a Genie Award for best short documentary, as well as the Maximum Image Award for best 2D film at the Miami Aventura Imax Days. Prix Iris For Best Actress
Québec Cinéma presents an annual award for Best Actress (french: Prix Iris de la meilleure interprétation dans un premier rôle féminin) to recognize the best in the Cinema of Quebec. Until 2016, it was known as the Jutra Award for Best Actress in memory of influential Quebec film director Claude Jutra.
