The Philadelphia Foundation
The Philadelphia Foundation is a community foundation that serves the Greater Philadelphia community. The five primary counties served are Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery. It is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the United States, awarding more than $20 million in annual grants from more than 800 charitable funds. History The foundation was established as a "community trust" by the Fidelity Trust Company in December 1918. Initially the committee to distribute funds was composed of five individuals: one appointed by the Pennsylvania Governor, one appointed by the senior judge of the United States District Court, one appointed by the judge of the Orphans' Court, and two appointed by the Board of Directors of the Fidelity Trust Company. Fidelity Trust Company
Fidelity Trust Company was a bank in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1866 as Fidelity Insurance, Trust, & Safe Deposit Company, the bank was later renamed Fidelity Trust Company, Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Company, The Fidelity Bank, and Fidelity Bank, National Association. Connelly Foundation
The Connelly Foundation is a Philadelphia philanthropic organization based in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The organization was founded in 1955 by businessman and entrepreneur John F. Connelly. Connelly headed the foundation until his death in 1990, and his wife Josephine led until her death in 1999. The foundation is arguably best well known in the Delaware Valley for its charitable giving and general financial support to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The William Penn Foundation is a grant-making foundation established in 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by businessman Otto Haas and his wife Phoebe, and initially called the Phoebe Waterman Foundation.
