''The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show'', was a comedy radio program which ran on NBC from 1948 to 1954 starring Alice Faye and Phil Harris. Harris had previously become known to radio audiences as the band-leader-turned-cast-member of the same name on ''The Jack Benny Program'' while Faye had been a frequent guest on programs such as Rudy Vallée's variety shows. After becoming the breakout stars of the music and comedy variety program ''The Fitch Bandwagon'', the show was retooled into a full situation comedy, with Harris and Faye playing fictionalized versions of themselves as a working show business couple raising two daughters in a madcap home. Sam Berman
Sam Berman (July 27, 1907 – August 11, 1995) was an American caricaturist of the 1940s and 1950s. Berman was in high school when he began drawing cartoons for the ''Hartford Courant''. He went to New York to study art and then landed a position as a staff cartoonist for the ''Newark Star Eagle''. During the 1930s his political cartoons were published in color in ''Collier's''. Films He designed titles for '' Nothing Sacred'' (1937) and other films of the 1930s. His murals graced the walls of the Café Society club in Greenwich Village, and he illustrated Mark Hellinger's syndicated newspaper column, "Goin' to Town", throughout the 1930s and the 1940s. Richard Lane (May 28, 1899 – September 5, 1982) was an American actor and television announcer/presenter. In movies, he played assured, fast-talking slickers: usually press agents, policemen and detectives, sometimes swindlers and frauds. He is perhaps best known to movie fans as "Inspector Farraday" in the Boston Blackie mystery-comedies. Lane also played Faraday in the first radio version of ''Boston Blackie'', which ran on NBC from June 23, 1944 to September 15, 1944. Frederick Alfred Martin (December 9, 1906 – September 30, 1983) was an American bandleader and tenor saxophonist. Early life Freddy Martin was born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Raised largely in an orphanage and by various relatives, Martin started out playing drums, then switched to C melody saxophone and subsequently tenor saxophone, the latter the one with which he would be identified. Early on, he had intended to become a journalist. He had hoped that he would earn enough money from his musical work to enter Ohio State University, but instead, he wound up becoming an accomplished musician. Thomas Francis Dorsey Jr. (November 19, 1905 – November 26, 1956) was an American jazz trombonist, composer, conductor and bandleader of the big band era. Ed Kemmer (October 29, 1921 – November 9, 2004) was an American motion picture and television actor. Life Kemmer was born in Reading, Pennsylvania as Edward William Kemmerer, and served as a fighter pilot in World War II. He was shot down over France and spent 11 months in a POW camp. He briefly escaped from the camp for two weeks before he was recaptured. Kemmer made his television debut in 1951 and starred as Buzz Corry in the live television science fiction action-drama '' Space Patrol'' (1951-1956). Kemmer made his film debut in 1956 (''Behind the High Wall'').
