The Phantom Of Soho
''The Phantom of Soho'' (German: ''Das Phantom von Soho'') is a 1964 West German thriller film directed by Franz Josef Gottlieb and starring Dieter Borsche, Barbara Rütting and Hans Söhnker.Bergfelder p.258 It was based on a novel by Bryan Edgar Wallace and was part in a large group of British-set thrillers made in Germany at the time, many of them adapted from the works of Wallace's father Edgar Wallace. It was shot at the Spandau Studios in Berlin and on location in London. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Hans Jürgen Kiebach and Ernst Schomer. Franz Josef Gottlieb
Franz Josef Gottlieb (1 November 1930 – 23 July 2006) was an Austrian film director and screenwriter. He directed 60 films between 1959 and 2005. He also directed the children's series '' Ravioli'' in 1983; it aired on ZDF in 1984. He was born in Semmering, Austria and died in Verden an der Aller, Germany of a brain tumor, at age 75. The Spandau Studios or CCC Studios were film and television studios located in Spandau, a suburb of Berlin. They were established in 1949 following the Second World War by the producer Artur Brauner controller of CCC Films, on the site of a former factory.Bergfelder p.106 Following the Soviet occupation of East Germany, most of the major film studios in the capital had fallen into the East Berlin with the exception of the Tempelhof Studios until Brauner opened his own studios. Otto Waldis (born Otto Glucksmann-Blum, May 20, 1901 – March 25, 1974) was an Austrian-American character actor in films and television from the 1930s through the 1960s. He was also billed as Otto Blum. Years in Germany Waldis was born Otto Glucksmann-Blum in 1901 in Vienna. He was a student during World War I and initially studied to be a naval engineer. Hans Albert Nielsen (30 November 1911 – 11 October 1965) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1937 and 1965. Biography Hans Albert Nielsen was born in Hamburg, Germany. He first got an education in business, but afterward, began taking private acting lessons from Albrecht Schoenhals and Erich Ziegel. He made his stage debut in Hamburg in 1932, after which he worked in Augsburg, Kiel, Leipzig, Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf.
