''The People of Hemsö'' (Swedish: ''Hemsöborna'') is a 1944 Swedish historical drama film directed by Sigurd Wallén and starring Adolf Jahr, Dagmar Ebbesen and Emil Fjellström.Qvist & Von Bagh p.151 It was shot at the Sundbyberg Studios in Stockholm and on location on Vindö. The film's sets were designed by the art director Max Linder. It was based on the 1887 novel '' The People of Hemsö'' by August Strindberg. It was subsequently remade as a 1955 film of the same title. Fritz Adolf Ferdinand Siegfried Fischer (14 July 1894 – 8 April 1976) was a Swedish actor, theatre manager, playwright, screenwriter and writer. He was born in Stockholm, the son of conductor Franz Fischer. At seventeen years old he was hired by Axel Lindblad's theatre company. He was engaged at '' Blancheteatern'' 1919–1921 and then at the '' Casinoteatern'' until 1928, where he also worked as a director and playwright. Hugo Björne (4 February 1886 – 14 February 1966) was a Swedish film and theater actor. Biography Ernst Hugo Alexis Björne was born in Varberg in Halland, Sweden. He made his stage debut in 1907 and belonged to the acting company of Hjalmar Selander until 1911 when he moved to the theater company of Einar Fröberg where he worked until 1914. Björne was involved at Svenska Teatern in Stockholm (1914–1925), at Vasateatern (1925–1926), at Oscarsteatern (1926–1932) and later at Vasateatern under the direction of Gösta Ekman (1932–1936).  After 1946, he became committed to the Dramaten.
