The Outsider (1983 TV Series)
''The Outsider'' is a British television drama series produced by Yorkshire Television and screened on the ITV in late 1983. Plot Successful journalist Frank Scully (John Duttine) is visiting old friends, the Harpers (Joanna Dunham and Norman Eshley), in the Yorkshire country town of Micklethorpe. Deciding to stay on, he takes the job of editor of the local newspaper, the Messenger. Fiona Neave (Carol Royle), who runs the local print works, becomes Scully's love interest, as he soon becomes embroiled in local affairs. Background ''The Outsider'' was the brainchild of writer Michael J. Bird, who researched the series by visiting Jim McTaggart, the editor of the Teesdale Mercury newspaper in County Durham. The series was commissioned by David Cunliffe, who had previously worked with Bird on the BBC drama series '' The Lotus Eaters'', at Yorkshire Television for a run of six episodes. ''Lame Ducks'' is a British television sitcom made by the BBC in 1984 and written by Peter J. Hammond. The series starred John Duttine as Brian Drake, a man who, no longer able to work due to a serious injury after being hit by a truck, decides to head off to live as a hermit. As he goes along, he is joined by various other outcasts, including a woman called Angie (played by Lorraine Chase). The group eventually settle at a derelict railway station. Later, a private detective called Ansell (played by Brian Murphy), hired by Drake's wife (Primi Townsend), locates the group, but, as an outcast himself, decides to join them. Joan Bogle Hickson, OBE (5 August 1906 – 17 October 1998) was an English actress of theatre, film and television. She was known for her role as Agatha Christie's Miss Marple in the television series ''Miss Marple''. She also narrated a number of ''Miss Marple'' stories on audiobooks. David Fleeshman
David Fleeshman (born 11 July 1952) is a British actor, broadcaster, drama lecturer and theatre director with a wealth of experience in film, radio, television, theatre and commercials. Biography Fleeshman was born on 11 July 1952 in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire. He trained at the Birmingham Theatre School making his stage debut was in 1973 with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. In 1974 he took a position as actor/assistant stage manager at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, and has also been an associate director of the Oldham Coliseum Theatre. Peter Ellis (born 30 May 1936) is an English actor. Ellis has worked extensively in theatre and television both as an actor and director. He spent four seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as spending five years at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, and three years with the Old Vic Company which included playing Benvolio in Zeffirelli's ''Romeo and Juliet'', Hotspur in '' Henry IV'' and later Rosencrantz in a world tour of ''Hamlet'' starring Derek Jacobi.
