The Other Person
''The Other Person'' ( nl, Onder spiritistischen dwang) is a 1921 Dutch-British silent mystery film directed by Maurits Binger and B.E. Doxat-Pratt. It was a co-production between a Dutch film company and a British film company. The film was based on a 1920 mystery novel called ''The Other Person'' which was written by Fergus Hume, the prolific author of crime fiction, thrillers and mysteries. Lead actress Zoe Palmer went on to star in ''Sweeney Todd'' (1928). Plot The film is about a spiritualist whose darkest secret is revealed during a seance, a scene that critic Troy Howarth said was strikingly similar to a scene in Dario Argento's 1974 film '' Deep Red'', in which a murderer is unmasked during a seance.Workman, Christopher; Howarth, Troy (2016). Maurits Binger
Maurits Binger (5 April 1868 – 9 April 1923) was a Dutch film director, producer and screenwriter of the silent era. He directed 39 films between 1913 and 1922 and is considered one of the pioneers of fictional films in the Netherlands. Binger's studio and base of operations was in Haarlem, North Holland. Between 1919 and 1923 he was managing director of Anglo-Hollandia an attempt to break into the larger British market. There is a film institute in the Netherlands in his name. He is sometimes referred to as Maurice Binger. Nora Hayden
Norah Helene Hayden (September 29, 1930 – August 10, 2013) was an American actress, and as Naura Hayden an author, who worked in entertainment also as Nora Hayden and in modeling as Helene Hayden. Biography Hayden was the daughter of Los Angeles Times reporter John Hayden and his wife (née Bussens). An aunt was Phyllis McGinley Hayden. She was a long-time resident of New York City. She was noticed as a photo model at age 19 when featured in the December 1949 issue of ''Glamorous Models'' magazine. In 1955 she toured 68 cities to promote Mercury automobiles and attract tourists to the southeastern United States, and in 1958 columnist Earl Wilson dubbed her his "perfect Wilson girl". Fergus Hume
Ferguson Wright Hume (8 July 1859 – 12 July 1932), known as Fergus Hume, was a prolific English novelist, known for his detective fiction, thrillers and mysteries. Early life Hume was born in Powick, Worcestershire, England, the second son of James C. Hume, a Scot and clerk and steward at the County Pauper and Lunatic Asylum there. When he was three the family emigrated to Dunedin, New Zealand, where he was educated at Otago Boys' High School and studied law at the University of Otago. He was admitted to the New Zealand bar in 1885. Shortly after graduation Hume relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where he obtained a job as a barristers' clerk. He began writing plays, but found it impossible to persuade the managers of Melbourne theatres to accept or even to read them.
