''The Orchid Dancer'' (French: ''La danseuse Orchidée'') is a 1928 French silent film, silent drama film directed by Léonce Perret and starring Louise Lagrange, Ricardo Cortez and Xenia Desni.Rège p.989 It was shot at the Victorine Studios in Nice. The film's art direction was by Jacques-Laurent Atthalin and Henri Ménessier Synopsis Luicha returns briefly to her home town in the Basque Country (greater region), Basque Country to visit her mother. She says she works as a teacher in Paris. One of the young men falls in love with her and asks her to marry him. She is attracted to him, but says she can't marry him and hastily returns to the French capital. He follows her there and discovers she is famous in Paris as an exotic dancer "The Orchid Dancer". Léonce Perret
Léonce Joseph Perret (14 March 1880 – 12 August 1935) was a prolific and innovative French film actor, director and producer.The Museum of Modern Art(retrieved 7 June 2007) He also worked as a stage actor and director. Often described as avant-garde for his unorthodox directing methods, Léonce Perret introduced innovative camera, lighting and film scoring techniques to French cinema. Léonce Perret began his career as a relatively undistinguished stage actor. He was recruited to the film industry by the Gaumont Film Company. His numerous short films gained significant accolade in French cinematography. Until his emigration to the United States in 1917, he was a fixture of the Gaumont Film Company. Bolesław Kamil Pluciński, known professionally as Armand Dutertre (17 July 1854 in Lublin – 31 May 1932 in Nice, France) was a French and Polish silent movie and theater actor. Life and career Bolesław Kamil Pluciński was born in Lublin, Poland (then part of the Russian Empire), on 17 July 1854. His father, Apolinary Pluciński, was one of the organizers of the January Uprising in Lublin in January 1863. His involvement led the family to move to Paris, where Apolinary was hired as a professor at a Polish school. His son, Bolesław, was educated in two languages and two cultures. He began his acting lessons very early and was trained by actors from La comedie Française.
