''The Optimist'' is the second studio album by English band New Young Pony Club. It was released on 5 March 2010 on the band's label The Numbers, distributed by the PIAS Entertainment Group. The album showcases a darker, more emotive sound for the band. The songs "Oh Cherie" and "Lost a Girl" were used, respectively, in the third and fourth episodes of the fourth season of ''Gossip Girl''. New Young Pony Club
NYPC (also known as New Young Pony Club) are an English electronic music band from London. The band was formed by Andy Spence and Tahita Bulmer in 2004. Their influences are predominantly post-punk and new wave artists. Career Forming and signing Mutual friends introduced now London-based vocalist Tahita Bulmer and producer Andy Spence, who shared a love of punk rock and dance music. The founding pair began writing together, originally only for Bulmer to perform. Spence later assumed a larger role when they decided to form a proper band, and the duo recruited Lou Hayter (keyboards), Igor Volk (bass) and Sarah Jones (drums). The band formed in 2005, and released two limited edition 7" singles ("The Get Go" and "Ice Cream") on indie label Tirk Recordings before being discovered by more established Australian label Modular Recordings, and signing a worldwide deal. PIAS Recordings (formerly Play It Again Sam) is a Belgian record label founded in 1983 by Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot. Play It Again Sam expanded along with other European independent labels in the early 1980s. Play It Again Sam's prominent early artists were electronic-rock acts like Front 242, Meat Beat Manifesto and The Young Gods. Sarah Jones (drummer)
Sarah Jones (born 31 August 1985) is an English musician based in London, best known for her work as a session and touring drummer. She is a founding member of NYPC, and has also served as a touring drummer for musicians such as Aynsley Lister, Harry Styles, Bat for Lashes, post-punk revival band Bloc Party, and synthpop band Hot Chip. Additionally, she has released several solo singles under the moniker Pillow Person. In 2020, she played drums on the new Puscifer album, titled ''Existential Reckoning''. Rory Allen Phillips is an American musician and founding member of Austin, Texas punk-ska band The Impossibles. PJ Harvey
Polly Jean Harvey (born 9 October 1969) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments. Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophonist. The band's frontman, John Parish, became her long-term collaborator. "Dress" is the debut single by English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey from her debut album '' Dry''. Released in 1991, two promotional music videos were also recorded. Background and history "Dress" was recorded at Yeovil's Icehouse as part of the ''Dry'' sessions. The song, like the album, generated an overwhelmingly strong critical response, though the song failed to chart. Lyrics tell the story of a woman who's trying to impress a certain man with a dress ("''Must be a way that I can dress to please him''"). She finds the dress pretty uncomfortable ("''It's hard to walk in the dress, it's not easy/I'm spilling over like a heavy loaded fruit tree''"), but she's hoping it will help her to ("''Close up my eyes/Dreamy dreamy music make it be alright''").
