The Opry House
''The Opry House'' is a 1929 Mickey Mouse short animated film released by Celebrity Pictures, as part of the ''Mickey Mouse'' film series. It was the fifth Mickey Mouse short to be released, the second of that year. It cast Mickey as the owner of a small theater (or opera house according to the title). Mickey performs a vaudeville show all by himself. Acts include his impersonation of a snake charmer, his dressing in drag and performing a belly dance, his caricature of a Hasidic Jew and, for the finale, a piano performance of Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt. Plot The cartoon starts with the opening of a theater and Mickey Mouse sweeping and using the broom as an instrument and a dance partner. Mickey is then faced with a large show goer, who must be deflated in order to fit through the doorway. The band takes over, with a large variety of short gags occurring throughout. Minnie Mouse is a cartoon character created by The Walt Disney Company. ''The Band Concert'' is a 1935 American animated short film produced in 3-strip Technicolor by Walt Disney Productions and released by United Artists. It was the 73rd Mickey Mouse short film to be released, and the second of that year. ''The Band Concert'' was the first ''Mickey Mouse'' film produced in color. Two more ''Mickey Mouse'' films were produced in black and white before they were produced in color on a permanent basis: ''Mickey's Service Station'' and '' Mickey's Kangaroo''. Mickey had previously appeared in color in a two-minute clip called '' Parade of the Award Nominees'' which was made especially for the 1932 Academy Awards ceremony. '' Convict Concerto '' is the 58th animated cartoon short subject in the ''Woody Woodpecker'' series. Released theatrically on November 22, 1954, the film was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed by Universal-International. Plot Woody is a shy piano tuner who is held at gunpoint by a bank robber named Mugsy (Daws Butler) who is on the lam. Mugsy hides out inside the grand piano Woody is tuning, and directs him to start playing immediately. Mugsy plays part of Frédéric Chopin's Funeral March to threaten Woody, who replies with a rousing rendition of Franz Liszt's " Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2." Woody Woodpecker is an animated character that appeared in theatrical short films produced by the Walter Lantz Studio and distributed by Universal Studios between 1940 and 1972. Woody, an anthropomorphic woodpecker, was created in 1940 by Lantz and storyboard artist Ben "Bugs" Hardaway, who had previously laid the groundwork for two other screwball characters, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, at the Warner Bros. cartoon studio in the late 1930s.
