The Ophelias (California Band)
The Ophelias are a psychedelic rock band led by singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Leslie Medford. Medford formed the band in San Francisco in October 1984 and disbanded the quartet in September 1989. The band have been signed three times, first by Strange Weekend Records for one album, then by Rough Trade Records, for whom they produced 2 albums and an EP, and most recently by Independent Project Records, who will released the album Bare Bodkin on CD in early 2022. The Ophelias recorded music that was described as "original" and "incredibly diverse" and "a sound that can alternate from raunchy to sweet in seconds." Leslie Medford's lyrics were "impressively literate" and J. F. Tiger described The Ophelias as "musical literature in an era practically devoid of such a thing… this band makes the listener think, and takes the listener into a secret world where other 'new music' dares not go." Neo-psychedelia
Neo-psychedelia is a diverse genre of psychedelic music that draws inspiration from the sounds of 1960s psychedelia, either updating or copying the approaches from that era. Originating in the 1970s, it has occasionally seen mainstream pop success but is typically explored within alternative rock scenes. It initially developed as an outgrowth of the British post-punk scene, where it was also known as acid punk. After post-punk, neo-psychedelia flourished into a more widespread and international movement of artists who applied the spirit of psychedelic rock to new sounds and techniques. Wicked Annabella
"Wicked Annabella" is a song by the English rock band the Kinks from their 1968 album, '' The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society'' (1968). Written by Ray Davies, it was recorded by the Kinks in July1968. The song is Dave Davies's only lead vocal contribution on the album.
