The Old Texas Trail
''The Old Texas Trail'' is a 1944 American Western film directed by Lewis D. Collins and written by William Lively. The film stars Rod Cameron, Eddie Dew, Fuzzy Knight, Ray Whitley, Virginia Christine, Joseph J. Greene, Marjorie Clements, George Eldredge and Edmund Cobb. The film was released on December 15, 1944, by Universal Pictures. Plot A western stageline is having trouble, and Jim Wiley (Rod Cameron) is sent in to find the problems. Wiley is shot, robbed of his ID and paperwork, and left for dead by those trying to disrupt the stageline. The thugs send in an imposter to impersonate Wiley and slow any progress. Wiley survives and gets a job on the stageline construction crew in the hopes of finding out who the leader is who's causing all the problems. Clarence Oliver Drake (May 28, 1903 – August 19, 1991) was an American film/television director, screenwriter, producer and actor who was most active in the Western genre. Though Drake began his career as an actor, he is best known as a prolific screenwriter and director of low-budget Western films (sometimes referred to as B-Westerns). Edmund Cobb
Edmund Fessenden Cobb (June 23, 1892 – August 15, 1974) was an American actor who appeared in more than 620 films between 1912 and 1966. Biography Cobb was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of William Henry Cobb and Eddie (Edmundie) Ross. His maternal grandfather, Edmund G. Ross, was a newspaper editor, a governor of the New Mexico territory, a senator from Kansas, and a leader in the abolitionist movement in the United States. Despite his grandfather's efforts to lead Cobb into a career in politics, an initial effort in acting in a locally produced play turned him in that direction for a career. When he was 18, he worked for the St. Louis Motion Picture Company when it made a film in Albuquerque. Other roles with other companies followed.
