Louise Fazenda
Louise Fazenda (June 17, 1895 – April 17, 1962) was an American film actress, appearing chiefly in silent comedy films. Early life Fazenda was born in her maternal grandparents' house in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of merchandise broker Joseph A. Fazenda, who was born in Mexico, and Nelda T. Schilling Fazenda, a Chicago native. She was of Portuguese, French, and Italian descent on her father's side and of German descent on her mother's. The Fazenda family relocated to California, where Joseph Fazenda opened up a grocery store. Louise attended Los Angeles High School and St. Mary's Convent and kept busy with a number of after-school jobs, one of which was delivering groceries for the family business via a horse-drawn wagon. Career Fazenda was discovered by a scout employed by Mack Sennett in a high school comedy show. She made her first film in 1913. Monte Collins (also credited as Monty Collins; December 3, 1898 – June 1, 1951) was an American film actor and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 160 films between 1920 and 1948. He also wrote for 32 films between 1930 and 1951. Career Dapper, pencil-mustached Collins starred in silent short comedies in the late 1920s. These were produced by Educational Pictures and often directed by Jules White. Prior, he had worked as a director in Portland, Oregon. The coming of sound in movies had no ill effect on Collins's career; he was not as big a name as Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy, so Collins had no preconceived screen image that could be shattered by talkies. Betty Francisco (born Elizabeth Barton; September 26, 1900 – November 25, 1950) was an American silent-film actress, appearing primarily in supporting roles. Her sisters Evelyn and Margaret were also actresses. Early years Francisco was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a child, she acted in stock theater companies. When she was older, she became an artists' model. Career Francisco is credited in more than 50 films from 1920 to 1934, after which it appears she retired from motion picture acting. Her first film credit was in the 1920 film ''A Broadway Cowboy''. Selected as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1923, she nevertheless continued to be cast in secondary roles and rarely played the lead. Lloyd Hughes (October 21, 1897 – June 6, 1958) was an American actor of both the silent and sound film eras. Life and career Born in Bisbee, Arizona Territory, Hughes received his education at the ''Los Angeles Polytechnic School''. He sought a career as an actor early in life, and his clean-cut appearance and ability soon gained him recognition. His first role as leading man was opposite Mary Pickford in '' Tess of the Storm Country''. Other roles included '' Love Never Dies'' opposite Madge Bellamy, and ''The Lost World'' with Wallace Beery and Bessie Love. He made the transition to sound, and worked as an actor through the late 1930s, including a role with John Barrymore in the 1930 film, ''Moby Dick''. Personal life Hughes met his wife, Gloria Hope, on the set of ''Tess of the Storm Country''. The couple had two children: a boy, Donald, and a girl, Isabel. Death Hughes died on June 6, 1958.
