''The Official Adventures of Grandmaster Flash'' is a DJ mix album by Grandmaster Flash and was released in January 2002. It is a mix album consisting of interview snippets, newly recorded old school hip hop mixes, live Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five segments and four other tracks by various artists that were popular in Flash's early DJ repertoire. The enclosed 36-page colour booklet contains an extensive and detailed history of Grandmaster Flash, with many photos and interviews with the characters involved and was written by Frank Broughton and Bill Brewster (authors of '' Last Night a DJ Saved My Life''). Music The album is a compilation of music from the late 1970s and early 1980s including DJ mix sets from Grand Master Flash and tracks that influenced classic hip-hop such as Kraftwerk's " Trans-Europe Express" and Babe Ruth's "The Mexican". DJ Mix
A DJ mix or DJ mixset is a sequence of musical tracks typically mixed together to appear as one continuous track. DJ mixes are usually performed using a DJ mixer and multiple sounds sources, such as turntables, CD players, digital audio players or computer sound cards, sometimes with the addition of samplers and effects units, although it is possible to create one using sound editing software. DJ mixing is significantly different from live sound mixing. Eddie Drennon (born Edward Allen Drennen, 1940) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, and arranger. His range of musical genres has included R&B, pop, disco, Latin music, salsa, jazz, funk, and charanga. He is best known for his transatlantic hit single, "Let's Do The Latin Hustle", recorded in 1975 with his then backing group, B.B.S. Unlimited. The track was written, produced and arranged by Drennon. Babe Ruth are an English rock band from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. They were initially active in the 1970s and reformed in 2005. History A predecessor of the group, called Shacklock after guitarist Alan Shacklock, was formed in 1970. Members included Janita Haan and Dave Hewitt, with Dave Punshon and Dick Powell later joining. "The Mexican" is a song by British rock band Babe Ruth, from their debut album '' First Base''. The song has been compiled, covered and mixed many times and is considered one of the most influential songs in hip hop music culture as well as being popular in early disco clubs such as The Loft. The song was written by Alan Shacklock and recorded along with the rest of the ''First Base'' album at Abbey Road Studios in the summer of 1972. ''Muzik'' was a British dance music magazine published by IPC Media from June 1995 to August 2003. ''Muzik'' was created by two former ''Melody Maker'' journalists, Push and Ben Turner. Push was the editor of ''Muzik'' from its launch until he left the magazine in 1998, at which point Turner took over as editor. The title was subsequently edited by Conor McNicholas, who went on to edit ''NME''.
