The Noise Company
The Noise Company is an American independent record label and music management company based in Austin, TX. The label was founded in 2007 by recording artist Ben Kweller. In 2009, Kweller stated in an Australian magazine that he recently parted ways with his long-time label-home, ATO Records in order to start a new company to release his music and help other artists. Over the years, NoiseCo (as it is often called) has grown from being a label, to an all-encompassing entertainment company that focuses on many aspects of its clients' careers. Ben Kweller
Benjamin Lev Kweller (born June 16, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A former member of Radish, Kweller has released six solo albums and appeared on several collaborations. Early life Ben Kweller was born in San Francisco in 1981. In 1982, his family relocated to Emory, Texas, where his father, Howard Kweller, became the town's first doctor. In 1986, the Kwellers moved to the larger Texas town of Greenville. Kweller was exposed to music at a very early age. Howard taught Ben how to play the drums when he was seven years old. For the next year, they would play together almost every night after Howard got home from work. Howard sang and played guitar while Ben played the drums. The duo played songs by The Beatles, The Hollies, Jimi Hendrix, and other artists of the 1960s. Howard is also a longtime friend of Nils Lofgren, a neighbor of his. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Amy Cook
Amy Cook (born January 30, 1979) is an American musician and singer-songwriter living in Austin, Texas. Biography Amy Cook began as an indie artist in Los Angeles, self-releasing records and finding success licensing her songs to television and film. Cook moved to the small West Texas town of Marfa in 2004. She recorded a collection of lo-fi folk songs that would become "The Bunkhouse Recordings," complete with crickets and coyotes. Soon after, she moved to Austin where she recorded "The Sky Observer's Guide" (a collaboration with Los Angeles artist, Amy Adler) and caught the attention of Alejandro Escovedo, who tapped her for opening duties during his "Real Animal" tour. They followed their traveling act with "Let the Light In," an Escovedo produced record that garnered critical acclaim and featured the song "Hotel Lights," which was spotlighted on many favorites lists in 2010. Radish (band)
Radish were an American post-grunge band. The band formed in 1993 by Ben Kweller, John Kent and Ryan Green.Strong, Martin C. After signing to a major record label and a lot of initial press, the interest in them dissipated and they disbanded. History The trio played locally in and around Greenville, Texas and recorded two independent releases, ''Hello'' (1994) and ''Dizzy'' (1996). Kweller sent a copy of ''Dizzy'' to guitarist Nils Lofgren, who grew up with Ben's dad in Maryland. Nils was impressed with Radish and recommended them to Roger Greenawalt, who was producing Lofgren's album at the time, ''Damaged Goods''.
