The Next Line
''The Next Line'' was a 1990s television game show. Produced by Blair Murdoch, it was filmed at the studios of U.TV in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hosted by Kevin Frank, with Kathy Morse (later the mayor of Maple Ridge from 2002 to 2005) as the announcer (the pair had also worked together on another game show, ''Kidstreet'', which also taped at CKVU-TV and aired around the same time), it centered on viewing classic movie clips that were cut off at a point and then determining which of a panel of "experts" gave the correct line that followed. It premiered in 1991 on many Global Television Network stations, running for 13 weeks. Reruns were first aired on Prime Network in the late 90s, and later resurfaced on GameTV. The show was based on an earlier game show, '' The New Liar's Club'' (another show produced by Murdoch), which was played using similar rules. Game Show
A game show is a genre of broadcast viewing entertainment (radio, television, internet, stage or other) where contestants compete for a reward. These programs can either be participatory or Let's Play, demonstrative and are typically directed by a game show host, host, sharing the rules of the program as well as commentating and narrating where necessary. The history of game shows dates back to the invention of television as a medium. On most game shows, contestants either have to answer questions or solve puzzles, typically to win either money or prizes. CTV Television Network
The CTV Television Network, commonly known as CTV, is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. Launched in 1961 and acquired by BCE Inc. in 2000, CTV is Canada's largest privately owned television network and is now a division of the Bell Media subsidiary of BCE. It is Canada's largest privately or commercially owned network consisting of 22 owned-and-operated stations nationwide and two privately owned affiliates, and has consistently been placed as Canada's top- rated network in total viewers and in key demographics since 2002, after several years trailing the rival Global Television Network in key markets.
