The New Heroes
''The New Heroes'' (US series title: ''Quantum Prophecy'') is a series of novels and short stories by Michael Carroll, first published in January 2006 by HarperCollins in the UK. The stories centre on realistic depictions of superhuman abilities manifesting in the world and the subsequent appearance of superheroes and villains. The first trilogy follows young adolescents as they become aware of their abilities and the danger that those powers may put them in. In December 2007, the author published a collection of short stories entitled ''Superhuman'', which expanded upon the mythology. British Science Fiction Association
The British Science Fiction Association Limited is an organisation founded in 1958 by a group of British academics, science fiction fans, authors, publishers and booksellers, in order to promote the writing, criticism, and study of science fiction in every form. The first President of the BSFA was Brian Aldiss. Pat Cadigan became president in August 2020, and Tade Thompson became the Vice President in June 2021. The ''San Francisco Chronicle'' is a newspaper serving primarily the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. Michael Peter Scott (born 28 September 1959) is an Irish writer of science fiction, fantasy, horror and, under the name Anna Dillon, romance novels. He is also a collector and editor of folklore. Ottakar's was a chain of bookshops in the United Kingdom founded in 1987 by James Heneage. Following a takeover by the HMV Group in 2006, the chain was merged into the Waterstone's brand. History James Heneage established the Ottakar's chain in 1987, taking inspiration from ''The Adventures of Tintin'' book ''King Ottokar's Sceptre''. He saw a lucrative market in small towns that lacked a Waterstones branch and opened stores in Loughborough, Brighton, Banbury, Salisbury and Trowbridge. Michael Owen Carroll (born 21 March 1966) is an Irish writer of novels and short stories for adults and children. He is best known for his series of superhero novels '' The New Heroes'' (called ''Quantum Prophecy'' in the US), and for his romantic fiction under the name Jaye Carroll. He also writes ''Judge Dredd'' for ''2000 AD'' and the ''Judge Dredd Megazine.'' Biography After leaving school at sixteen, he worked as a postman. Sakkara (novel)
''Sakkara'' is a superhero novel by Michael Carroll, the second of the original '' New Heroes'' trilogy. ''The Gathering'' is the book's title in the US, where the series is known as ''Quantum Prophecy''. Plot summary Sakkara is a superpowers research facility in the heart of the United States. The adolescent superhumans of '' The Quantum Prophecy'' return; this time their covers are blown and they are forced to flee to the US in order to protect themselves from attack and publicity. The facility that they hide in is thought to be secret, until its name is known around the world following a terrorist attack in which the supervillain-turned-assassin leaves the word "Sakkara" spraypainted on the wall of an airport after killing dozens of people.
