''The New Godfathers'' ( it, I contrabbandieri di Santa Lucia, lit=The Smugglers of Santa Lucia) is a 1979 Italian poliziottesco film directed by Alfonso Brescia. Plot A great quantity of drug travels undercovered from Iran and Turkey and arrives in port of Naples. An Italian Guardia di Finanza officer tries to intercept the stuff and achieves the collaboration of Don Francesco Autiero, the chief of illegal cigarettes trade in Naples. Alfonso Brescia
Alfonso Brescia (6 January 1930 – 6 June 2001) was an Italian film director. Brescia began working in film against his father's wishes, and eventually directed his first film '' Revolt of the Praetorians'' in 1964. Brescia worked in several genres in the Italian film industry, including five science fiction films he directed following the release of ''Star Wars''. Brescia's work slowed down towards the late 1980s, and his last film ''Club Vacanze'' could not get distribution. Biography Alfonso Brescia was born in Rome on January 6, 1930. Brescia was the son of a film producer and entered the film business against his father's will. His father had him work as a production driver, which involved getting up early to persuade him against entering the business which did not work. Lorraine De Selle
Lorraine de Selle is an Italian-born former actress noted for her work in Italian genre cinema during the 1970s and 1980s. Having worked with directors such as Joe D'Amato, Fernando di Leo, Ruggero Deodato and Umberto Lenzi, she remains best known for her roles in the horror films '' The House on the Edge of the Park'' and ''Cannibal Ferox'', co-starring with Giovanni Lombardo Radice in both. Franco Diogene (20 October 1947 – 27 May 2005) was an Italian actor and comedian. Life and career Born Concetto Francesco Diogene in Catania, he was the son of a Sicilian father and a Ligurian mother. At 5 years old, Diogene moved to Genoa with his family. In Genoa he completed his studies, and also started acting in a little theater of a parish. Nunzio Gallo
Nunzio Gallo (25 March 1928 – 22 February 2008) was an Italian singer. He was born in Naples and represented his country in the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest, coming 6th. The song he performed, "Corde Della Mia Chitarra", is famous for being the longest song ever played for Eurovision at 5:09 before the new rules came into place. Gallo was also an actor appearing in over 20 films. Gallo suffered severe brain haemorrhage in September 2007 from which he never fully recovered.
