''The Mysterious Mister X'' (German: ''Der geheimnisvolle Mister X'') is a 1936 German comedy film directed by J.A. Hübler-Kahla and starring Ralph Arthur Roberts, Annemarie Steinsieck and Herti Kirchner.Waldman p.205 The film's sets were designed by the art director Gustav A. Knauer and Alexander Mügge. Synopsis A British lord, fascinated by crime, spends his time collecting artefacts. He is thrilled when he receives mysterious letters warning that a thief plans to steal a valuable statue from his country house. His secretary persuades him to bring in her fiancée, a private detective, to investigate the case. Lothar Stark
Lothar Stark (5 September 1876 – 31 March 1944) was a German film producer. Stark was originally a journalist, but was brought into the film industry by the tycoon Paul Davidson. Stark worked as a distributor and worked then as an independent producer during the First World War and the Weimar Republic, founding his own company Lothar Stark-Film. Following the Nazi takeover in 1933, he faced increasing difficulties. In 1933 when evidence of his Jewish background was discovered, Stark went into exile in Copenhagen. Later he also went to London. He tried to produce new films there, but was unable to secure funding. Then he returned to Denmark, which was then invaded by Germany in 1940. Robert Jungk (; born ''Robert Baum'', also known as ''Robert Baum-Jungk''; 11 May 1913 – 14 July 1994) was an Austrian writer, journalist, historian and peace campaigner who wrote mostly on issues relating to nuclear weapons. Life Jungk was born into a Jewish family in Berlin. His father, known as Max Jungk, was born David Baum (1872, Miskovice – 1937, Prague). When Adolf Hitler came to power, Jungk was arrested and released, moved to Paris, then back to Nazi Germany to work in a subversive press service. Hermann Thimig (3 October 1890 – 7 July 1982) was an Austrian stage and film actor. He appeared in 102 films between 1916 and 1967. Biography Thimig came from a famous family of actors. His father, Hugo Thimig, was an actor, director and director of the Vienna Burgtheater.
