The Muppet Alphabet Album
''The Muppet Alphabet Album'' is a ''Sesame Street'' learning album based on the children's television series. It was first released in 1971 by Columbia, then reissued in 1976, and by Golden Music in 1990, and by Sony Wonder in 1996, and by Koch Records in 2008. Sony Wonder and Koch Records's reissues included Elmo singing a version of the song, " ABC-DEF-GHI", and called it "Sing the Alphabet". The album features one song for each letter in the alphabet, performed by a variety of Sesame Street characters. Each of the songs uses a different musical style. Jim Henson, one of the album's producers, included a short description of the project on the album jacket of the initial release: "The idea is very simple – a little song or skit about each of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet..". ''Sesame Street'' is an American educational children's television series that combines live-action, sketch comedy, animation and puppetry. Cookie Monster
Cookie Monster is a blue Muppet character on the long-running PBS/HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street.'' In a song in 2004, and later in an interview in 2017, Cookie Monster revealed his real name as "Sid". He is best known for his voracious appetite and his famous eating catchphrases, such as "Me want cookie!" As his name suggests, his preferred food is cookies; though he eats almost anything, including inedible objects. Chocolate chip cookies are his favorite kind. His speech is often grammatically incorrect; he always uses "Me" to refer to himself in place of "I","My", and "Mine". Despite his voracious appetite for cookies, Cookie Monster shows awareness of healthy eating habits for young children and also enjoys fruits and vegetables. Bert (Sesame Street)
Bert is a yellow Muppet character on the long running PBS and HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street''. Bert was originally performed by Frank Oz. Since 1999, Muppeteer Eric Jacobson has been phased in as Bert's primary performer. Bert has also made cameo appearances within ''The Muppets'' franchise, including ''The Muppet Show'', its second pilot episode '' The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence'', ''The Muppet Movie'', and ''The Muppets Take Manhattan'', in addition to an appearance with Ernie on ''The Flip Wilson Show'' on September 14, 1972, on which he sang "Clink, Clank", a song about noises. Bert and Ernie are two Muppet characters who appear together in numerous skits on the long-running PBS/ HBO children's television show, ''Sesame Street''. Originated by Frank Oz and Jim Henson, the characters are currently performed by puppeteers Eric Jacobson and Peter Linz; Oz performed Bert until 2006. History Bert and Ernie were built by Don Sahlin from a simple design scribbled by Jim Henson, creator of ''The Muppets''. Initially, Henson performed Bert and Oz performed Ernie, but after just one day of rehearsal, they switched characters. The original idea was to show that even though two people can have totally different characteristics, they can still be good friends. The Muppets are an ensemble group of comedic puppet characters originally created by Jim Henson. The Muppets have appeared in multiple television series, films, and other media appearances since the 1950s. The majority of the characters listed here originated on ''The Muppet Show'', a television series that aired from 1976 to 1981. Since then, several more characters have been introduced in other television series, as well as theatrical films. Grover
Grover is a blue Muppet character on the popular PBS/ HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street''. Self-described as lovable, cute and furry, he is a blue monster who rarely uses contractions when he speaks or sings. Grover was originally performed by Frank Oz from his earliest appearances. Eric Jacobson has performed the character regularly from the year 2000 onwards. Origins A prototype version of Grover appeared on ''The Ed Sullivan Show'' on Christmas Eve in 1967. This puppet had greenish-brown fur and a red nose. He also had a raspier voice – somewhat like Cookie Monster's – and was played a bit more unkempt than Grover would later behave. Guy Smiley
Guy Smiley is a fictional character on ''Sesame Street'' who was dubbed "America's favorite game show host". His skits are among those on the show that parody commercial media. Smiley has also hosted ''This Is Your Lunch'' and ''Here Is Your Life'', a parody of ''This Is Your Life''. Guests who were profiled included a loaf of bread, a tooth and a tree (all aimed at teaching children how things are made). He has also hosted pageants for numbers and letters. Joan Ganz Cooney cited the role as one of her favorite roles from his original performer Jim Henson, although it was his least favorite to perform, as the character had a boisterous voice which proved too hard on his throat.
