''The Morning After'' is a 1974 American made-for-television drama film starring Dick Van Dyke and Lynn Carlin, based on the best selling novel by Jack B. Weiner, and with a screenplay by Richard Matheson. Production background Van Dyke played a successful public relations writer who has a serious drinking problem that threatens his marriage and life. Around this time, Van Dyke admitted he himself was an alcoholic and had been seeking treatment (one of the first celebrities to do so). This film also marked Van Dyke's first real attempt to escape his Rob Petrie image. Van Dyke was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama but lost to Hal Holbrook. "Round and Round" is a song by American hard rock band Ratt from their 1984 album ''Out of the Cellar''. It was released as a single in 1984 on Atlantic Records. Music video In the song's music video, Milton Berle (uncle of Ratt manager Marshall Berle) plays both the staid head-of-household as well as the family matron (echoing his famous cross-dressing stunts of the 1950s). Both characters seem perturbed by the loud volume of Ratt's playing, and quickly leave the table. The album was released by popular demand following an Academy Award win for Best Song for " The Morning After", written by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. After the song's subsequent rise up the ''Billboard'' Top 100 charts, the eponymous album was released, eventually peaking in September at #77 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 200 list of popular albums. "The Morning After" is the first track on the record. McGovern composed the music for the fourth and sixth tracks.
