''The Morning After'' is the second studio album by American Rock music, rock band The J. Geils Band. The album was released on October 2, 1971, by Atlantic Records. The song "Cry One More Time" was later covered by Gram Parsons on his GP (album), first solo album. Track listing Juke Joint Jimmy is a pseudonym used by The J. Geils Band for group compositions. Peter Wolf
Peter Wolf (born March 7, 1946) is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of the J. Geils Band from 1967 to 1983 and as a solo artist. Early life and education Peter Wolf was born Peter Walter Blankfield on March 7, 1946 in The Bronx, New York City, New York, New York (state), New York. He attended the High School of Music & Art, located in west Harlem, Manhattan, near the Apollo Theater. He often attended the Apollo, seeing many of the famous soul, rhythm & blues, and gospel artists who influenced him. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts on scholarship, where he studied painting. His first roommate was film director David Lynch. Danny Klein
Daniel Klein (born May 23, 1946) is an American bassist best known as a member of The J. Geils Band. Early life Daniel Klein was born on May 23, 1946, in the Bronx, New York City. He moved to New Jersey at age 6 and in 1964 he began attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts studying mechanical engineering. It was there that he met musicians John Geils and Richard Salwitz. By 1966 Klein left WPI to pursue a career in music. Musical career While attending college Klein formed a jug band with Salwitz and Geils. When Peter Wolf, Seth Justman and Stephen Jo Bladd joined they changed their name to The J. "Lookin' for a Love" is a song written by J. W. Alexander (musician), J. W. Alexander and Zelda Samuels and was the debut hit of the family group the Valentinos, which featured Bobby Womack. The song was a hit for the Valentinos, climbing to number eight on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B chart and crossing over to number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1962, released on Sam Cooke's SAR Records, SAR label. The song became a much bigger hit when Womack issued a solo version in 1974; this version reached number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B chart and number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Don Covay
Donald James Randolph (March 24, 1936 – January 31, 2015), better known by the stage name Don Covay, was an American R&B, rock and roll, and soul singer-songwriter most active from the 1950s to the 1970s. His most successful recordings include " Mercy, Mercy" (1964), "See-Saw" (1965), and "It's Better to Have (and Don't Need)" (1974). He also wrote "Pony Time", a US number 1 hit for Chubby Checker, and "Chain of Fools", a Grammy-winning song for Aretha Franklin. Dyke and the Blazers was an American funk band led by Arlester Christian. The band was formed in 1965, and recorded up until Christian's death in 1971. Among their most successful records were the original version of "Funky Broadway" (1966) and " Let a Woman Be a Woman" (1969). Career Arlester Christian (June 13, 1943 – March 13, 1971), nicknamed "Dyke", was born (according to most sources) in Buffalo, New York. He attended Burgard High School. Seth Justman
Seth Justman (born January 27, 1951) is the keyboard player for the U.S. rock band, The J. Geils Band. Biography Justman was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in Atlantic City, and is Jewish. He co-wrote many of the band's songs with singer Peter Wolf, and took sole songwriting credits for the band's biggest international hit, "Centerfold" (number 1 for six weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100). Seth is the brother of Paul Justman, director of the 2002 movie, ''Standing in the Shadows of Motown''. Paul and Seth shared songwriting credits for most of the songs on the band's final album, ''You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd''. Justman also became the band's main vocalist following Wolf's departure until the band's first break-up in 1985.
