The Mixtape About Nothing
''The Mixtape About Nothing'' is the fourth mixtape by American rapper Wale, released on May 30, 2008. It was mixed by Nick Catchdubs in collaboration with New York streetwear brand 10.Deep Clothing as a free download. Theme Wale was inspired by the show ''Seinfeld''. Wale claims he has "seen every episode". The mixtape samples extensively from Seinfeld, and Wale peppers his raps with frequent reference to jokes and catch phrases from the series. Each track follows the series' naming conventions for episodes, formatting each title with the definitive article "The." In the track "The Kramer," Wale raps about use of the word "nigger," referring to the Michael Richards Laugh Factory incident, which Wale also attacks across the rest of the mixtape. Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays the character Elaine Benes in Seinfeld, appears on the mixtape. Olubowale Victor Akintimehin (born September 21, 1984), better known by his stage name Wale ( ), is an American rapper. He first gained recognition in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug (Shake It)" became popular in his hometown, leading Wale to became locally recognized as he continued recording music for the regional audience. Wale met English DJ-producer Mark Ronson in 2006 and joined his label, Allido Records in 2007. While signed to that label, Wale released several mixtapes and appeared in national media including MTV and various Black American-focused magazines. Tawiah (pronounced Taa-We-Ah) is a British alternative-soul singer and songwriter based in London. Early life Tawiah was born to Ghanaian parents in Battersea, South West London, where she grew up with her two brothers on the 18th floor of a council estate. She describes her childhood as filled with church, laughter and playing out on the block. Tawiah was raised in a Pentecostal household honing her early singing capabilities as a young praise and worship leader in the Gospal Choir.
