The Missing Lady
''The Missing Lady'' is a 1946 American mystery film directed by Phil Karlson and starring Kane Richmond and Barbara Read. It was the third and final in a series of three films released by Monogram in 1946 starring Richmond as The Shadow, the others being ''The Shadow Returns'' and '' Behind The Mask''. Phil Karlson
Phil Karlson (born Philip N. Karlstein; July 2, 1908 – December 12, 1982) was an American film director. Karlson directed '' 99 River Street'', ''Kansas City Confidential'' and ''Hell's Island'', all with actor John Payne, in the early 1950s. Other films include '' The Texas Rangers'' (1951), ''The Phenix City Story'' (1955), '' 5 Against the House'' (1955), ''Gunman's Walk'' (1958), ''The Young Doctors'' (1961) and '' Walking Tall'' (1973). Biography Early life Karlson was the son of Irish actress Lillian O'Brien. His father was Jewish. He attended Marshall High School and studied painting at Chicago's Art Institute. Claire Carleton (September 28, 1913 – December 11, 1979) was an American actress whose career spanned four decades from the 1930s through the 1960s. She appeared in over 100 films, the majority of them features, and on numerous television shows, including several recurring roles. In addition to her screen acting, she had a successful stage career. Early life Carleton was born in New York City. She began acting on the stage, eventually making it to Broadway, where she made her debut as Lucy in the short-lived play, ''Blue Monday'' in June, 1932. Film noir (; ) is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that emphasize cynical attitudes and motivations.
