The Ministry And The Past
''Das Amt und die Vergangenheit: Deutsche Diplomaten im Dritten Reich und in der Bundesrepublik'' (The Ministry and the Past: German Diplomacy in the Third Reich and the Federal Republic) is an 880-page report released by the German Foreign Office and published bKarl Blessing Verlagon October 28, 2010. The report establishes that the Foreign Office was deeply involved in the Holocaust. History The report was commissioned by former Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer in 2005 and prepared for German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. The report's findings were to be incorporated into training for future German diplomats. The report has been published commercially, going on sale before it was delivered to Westerwelle and available for €34,95 at some exchanges. As of March 2012, over 75,000 copies of the report had been sold, an unusually high number for a history book that occupies such a specialized niche. Holocaust
The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, was the genocide of European Jews during World War II. Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews across German-occupied Europe; around two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population. Joschka Fischer
Joseph Martin "Joschka" Fischer (born 12 April 1948) is a German retired politician of the Alliance 90/The Greens. He served as the foreign minister and as the vice-chancellor of Germany in the cabinet of Gerhard Schröder from 1998 to 2005. Fischer has been a leading figure in the German Greens since the 1970s, and according to opinion polls, he was the most popular politician in Germany for most of the Schröder government's duration. Following the September 2005 election, in which the Schröder government was defeated, he left office on 22 November 2005. Guido Westerwelle
Guido Westerwelle (; 27 December 1961 – 18 March 2016) was a German politician who served as Foreign Minister in the second cabinet of Chancellor Angela Merkel and Vice-Chancellor of Germany from 2009 to 2011, being the first openly gay person to hold any of these positions. He also led the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) from 2001 until he stepped down in 2011. A lawyer by profession, he was a member of the Bundestag from 1996 to 2013.
