Larry Semon
Lawrence Semon (February 9, 1889 – October 8, 1928) was an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter during the silent film era. In his day, Semon was considered a major movie comedian, but he is now remembered mainly for working with both Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy before they started working together. He is also sometimes noted for directing (as well as appearing in) the 1925 silent film '' The Wizard of Oz'', which had a slight influence on the better-known 1939 talkie '' The Wizard of Oz'' released by MGM. The film was included in the 2005 three-disc DVD version of the 1939 film, along with other silent ''Oz'' movies. Early life Born in West Point, Mississippi, Semon was the son of a travelling Jewish vaudeville magician Zera Semon, who billed himself as "Zera the Great". Oliver Norvell Hardy (born Norvell Hardy; January 18, 1892 – August 7, 1957) was an American comic actor and one half of Laurel and Hardy, the double act that began in the era of silent films and lasted from 1926 to 1957. He appeared with his comedy partner Stan Laurel in 107 short films, feature films, and cameo roles. He was credited with his first film, ''Outwitting Dad'', in 1914. In most of his silent films before joining producer Hal Roach, he was billed on screen as Babe Hardy. Early life and education Oliver Hardy was born Norvell Hardy in Harlem, Georgia. Kathleen Myers (April 16, 1899 – September 27, 1959) was an American film actress of the silent era. Biography Myers was the daughter of S. C. Myers, manager of Chrome Steel Works in Newark, New Jersey. Appearing in 22 feature films between 1921 and 1928, "graduating from straight comedies to comedy drama and feature plays." She also had lead roles in some films made in South America. William Hauber (May 20, 1891 – July 17, 1929) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 60 films between 1913 and 1928. He was born in Brownsville, Minnesota, and died in California in a plane crash during aerial scouting for film locations during the production of the film ''The Aviator'' in 1929. Al Thompson
Al Thompson (September 21, 1884 – March 1, 1960) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 170 films between 1916 and 1958. Well known in the industry for performing the more difficult stunts, he kept busy as a stunt double for Andy Clyde in the latter's many movies and also appeared in many ''Three Stooges'' shorts. The wiry, athletic Thompson performed in a variety of bit parts and was equally comfortable in roles as varied as laundry worker, professor, desk clerk, or sign painter.
