The Midday Show
''Midday'' (commonly referred to as ''The Midday Show'') is an Australian award-winning daytime television program, based on the variety format that aired on the Nine Network on 11 February 1985 until 27 November 1998. The show aired, like its title suggests, at noon, on a weekday schedule, and was a 90-minute variety programme with international and local guests. It featured interviews, musical performances and comedy spots. The format of the show was similar to that of its predecessor, ''The Mike Walsh Show'', which it replaced in the lunch time slot. Raymond George Martin Order of Australia, AM (né Grace, 20 December 1944) is an Australian television journalist and entertainment personality. Having won the Gold Logie five times, he is the most awarded star of Australian television, along with Graham Kennedy (although Kennedy won the ‘Star of the Year Award’, the forerunner of the Gold Logie in 1959). ''Big Brother Australia'' (also known simply as ''Big Brother'') is an Australian reality show based on the international '' Big Brother'' format created by John de Mol. Following the premise of other versions of the format, the show features a group of contestants, known as "housemates" who live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. The housemates are continuously monitored during their stay in the house by live television cameras as well as personal audio microphones. Throughout the course of the competition, housemates are evicted from the house - eliminated from the competition. The last remaining housemate wins the competition and is awarded a cash prize. ''Big Brother'' was produced from 2001 and ran for eight seasons and a Celebrity edition on Network Ten before the network cancelled it in July 2008 after experiencing audience erosion and controversy. Don Lane (born Morton Donald Isaacson, 13 November 1933 – 22 October 2009) was an American-born talk show host and singer, best known for his television career in Australia, especially for hosting ''Tonight with Don Lane'' and ''The Don Lane Show'' which aired on the Nine Network from 1975 to 1983, and his appearances with Bert Newton. Doug Mulray
Douglas John Mulray (born 1 December 1951) is an Australian comedian, radio and television presenter. He grew up in the Sydney Northern Beaches suburb of Dee Why. Radio career Mulray began his career at 2AD in Armidale, after doing a broadcasting course at the Digamae (Rod Muir's) Radio School. From there he grafted his way south, securing a spot with Central Coast station 2GO Gosford. During the mid 1970s he worked on 3AW Melbourne with a program called "Mulray & The Man". In the late 1970s, he started a permanent job in Sydney with Australian Broadcasting Corporation's alternative rock station 2JJ (later Triple J), where he built up a sizeable following. Brian Frederick Bury (born 14 June 1937) is an Australian former radio and television personality and weather presenter, best known for his tenure on the Nine Network's breakfast show ''Today'' as weathermen from the program's inception in 1982 until 1990. The Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, commonly referred to simply as the Gold Logie, is an award presented annually at the Australian Logie Awards. The Gold Logie was first awarded at the 2nd Annual TV Week Logie Awards, held in 1960 when the award was originally called Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. It was briefly renamed ''Best Personality on Australian Television'' in 2016-2017. For the 2018 ceremony, the award category name was reverted to Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
