Ewald André Dupont
Ewald André Dupont (25 December 1891 – 12 December 1956) was a German film director, one of the pioneers of the Cinema of Germany, German film industry. He was often credited as E. A. Dupont. Early career A newspaper columnist in 1916, Dupont became a screenwriter and began directing his own crime-story scripts in 1918. After several successes in his native Germany in silent films, he worked in London and in Hollywood, California. One of his greatest successes was the silent film ''Varieté'' (1925). This film, about an ex-trapeze artist, was noted for its innovative camerawork with highly expressive movement through space, accomplished by the expressionist cinematographer Karl Freund. ''Varieté'' even did well in the United States, screening for 12 weeks at New York's Rialto Theatre. Emil Rameau (born Emil Pulvermacher; 13 August 1878 – 9 September 1957) was a German film and theatre actor, and for many years the deputy artistic director at the Schiller Theater. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1915 and 1949. Life and career After his graduation from Realschule Rameau got an actor. His first role was Marcellus in ''Julius Caesar'' in Bromberg (today Bydgoszcz in Poland). In 1906 he went to the Schiller Theater in Berlin, where Rameau worked with Leopold Jessner. From 1923 until 1931 he was the vicarious intendant at the Schiller theater. He directed some plays at the Volksbühne. Emil Rameau worked also with Max Reinhardt at the Deutsches Theater. Rameau made his film debut in 1915 and appeared regularly in German silent films, mostly in character roles. Wilhelm Diegelmann
Wilhelm Diegelmann (28 September 1861 – 1 March 1934) was a German actor. Career Diegelmann's first stage appearance was in 1878 in the chorus for the Frankfurt Opera. In 1881 he debuted at the Frankfurt City Theater, playing King Lear, William Tell, and other title characters. Sometime around 1900, Diegelmann relocated to Berlin. Here, he appeared at a variety of theaters, including the Deutsches Theater, the Großes Schauspielhaus, and the Deutsches Künstlertheater. Diegelmann was introduced to film in 1913 by Max Reinhardt. he became a prolific actor of supporting roles, often as a father figure. He performed in the well-known film '' Der Blaue Engel'' (The Blue Angel), where he played a ship captain who flirts with the lead actress (Marlene Dietrich).
