The Manchu Eagle Murder Caper Mystery
The ''Manchu Eagle Murder Caper Mystery'' is a 1975 comedy-mystery film starring former " Bowery Boys" members Gabriel Dell and Huntz Hall, Jackie Coogan, and Joyce Van Patten. The film is a parody of the 1941 film noir '' The Maltese Falcon'' starring Humphrey Bogart. The cast also includes Barbara Harris, Anjanette Comer, Will Geer, Sorrell Booke, Vincent Gardenia, Nita Talbot and Nicholas Colasanto. The film was written by Dell and Dean Hargrove and directed by Hargrove. It was released by United Artists. Plot An incompetent mail-order private eye (Dell), aided by a chicken hatchery owner, is called upon to solve the murder of the mail-order private eye's nutty milkman (Gautier), who it is discovered had a secret life where he practiced various animal fetishes. Dean Hargrove
Dean Hargrove (born July 27, 1938 in Iola, Kansas) is an American television producer, writer, and director. His background includes graduating the St. John's Military School, Wichita State University, and attending the UCLA Film School as a graduate student. He specializes in creating mystery series. He frequently worked with television producer Fred Silverman and television writer Joel Steiger. Early career Hargrove received an Emmy nomination in his early 20s as a writer for a short-lived NBC series with Bob Newhart, ''The Bob Newhart Show'', not to be confused with the 1972-78 CBS series of the same name. ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'' He became a writer for ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'' late in the show's first season (1964). His biggest involvement with ''U.N.C.L.E.'' was in the second season when he wrote episodes that included a two-parter, "The Alexander the Greater Affair", later repackaged as the film ''One Spy Too Many''. Will Geer
Will Geer (born William Aughe Ghere; March 9, 1902 – April 22, 1978) was an American actor, musician, and social activist, who was active in labor organizing and other movements in New York and Southern California in the 1930s and 1940s. In California he befriended rising singer Woody Guthrie. They both lived in New York for a time in the 1940s. He was blacklisted in the 1950s by Hollywood after refusing, in testimony before Congress, to name persons who had joined the Communist Party. In his later years, he was well known for his role as the grandfather figure Zebulon Walton in the TV series ''The Waltons'' until his death. Richard Gautier (October 30, 1931 – January 13, 2017) was an American actor, comedian, singer, and caricaturist.
