Mohammad Khatami
Sayyid Mohammad Khatami ( fa, سید محمد خاتمی, ; born 14 October 1943) is an Iranian politician who served as the fifth president of Iran from 3 August 1997 to 3 August 2005. He also served as Iran's Minister of Culture from 1982 to 1992. Later, he was critical of the government of subsequent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Little known internationally before becoming president, Khatami attracted attention during 1997 Iranian presidential election, his first election to the presidency when he received almost 70% of the vote. Khatami had run on a platform of liberalization and reform. During his election campaign, Khatami proposed the idea of Dialogue Among Civilizations as a response to Samuel P. Huntington, Samuel P. Chelcheragh
''Chelcheragh'' (''Chandelier'' in English) is a weekly social and news magazine printed in Tehran, Iran. History and profile ''Chelcheragh'' was established in 2002. The magazine is published on a weekly basis on Saturdays and targets younger readers and provides cultural and societal news. The headquarters of the weekly is in Tehran. It has a reformist stance and reformist figures such as Mohammad Khatami. Fereidoon Amouzadeh Khalili is the managing editor and actress Bahareh Rahnama is among the contributors of the magazine. In November 2010 the weekly was temporarily folded. It was restarted in January 2011. The weekly organizes cultural events and one in January 2014 was cancelled by the Iranian authorities. It also publishes interviews with politicians such as Hassan Rouhani which was published following his election as president in June 2013. Mohammad Ali Abtahi
Mohammad-Ali Abtahi ( fa, محمدعلی ابطحی; born January 27, 1958) is an Iranian theologian, scholar, pro-democracy activist and chairman of the Institute for Interreligious Dialogue. He is a former Vice President of Iran and a close associate of former President Mohammad Khatami. Abtahi is a member of the central council of Association of Combatant Clerics (''Majma'e Rowhaniyoon-e Mobarez''), the political grouping to which both Khatami and the 2009 presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi (the previous Speaker of Majlis of Iran) belong.
