''The Magic of Winter'' is the second album by the Wizards of Winter, a Holiday music rock opera composed of vocal and instrumental songs. The music was written by Scott Kelly, Fred Gorhau, Sharon Kelly and Steve Ratchen. Cover art created by Ioannis. The music video for the single, "Spirit of Christmas," debuted on November 2, 2015 on Yahoo Music and was filmed at The Sherman Theater in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania The album was performed live for the first time during the band's 2015 Christmas Tour. The Wizards Of Winter
The Wizards of Winter is a progressive rock holiday music band from the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut working under the label Breaking Bands, LLC. They are an eclectic group of musicians with strong classical and progressive rock influences woven throughout their musical careers. History The Wizards of Winter were formed in 2009 by Scott Kelly, Sharon Kelly and Steve Ratchen as a way to give back to the local community. A holiday concert was held to support a local food pantry which was in severe financial straits. They continued to give back the community through several successful holiday music performances in 2010. In 2011 the band embarked upon writing their own Christmas rock opera, ''Tales Beneath a Northern Star''. The Wizards of Winter released their own self-titled Christmas rock opera album based on entirely original material in 2014. The Little Drummer Boy
"The Little Drummer Boy" (originally known as "Carol of the Drum") is a popular Christmas song written by American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941. First recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family, the song was further popularized by a 1958 recording by the Harry Simeone Chorale; the Simeone version was re-released successfully for several years, and the song has been recorded many times since. In the lyrics, the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity of Jesus. Without a gift for the Infant, the little drummer boy played his drum with approval from Jesus's mother, Mary, recalling, "I played my best for him" and "He smiled at me". Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is an English Christmas carol that first appeared in 1739 in the collection ''Hymns and Sacred Poems''. The carol, based on , tells of an angelic chorus singing praises to God. As it is known in the modern era, it features lyrical contributions from Charles Wesley and George Whitefield, two of the founding ministers of Methodism, with music adapted from " Vaterland, in deinen Gauen" by Felix Mendelssohn. Wesley, who had written the original version as "Hymn for Christmas-Day," had requested and received slow and solemn music for his lyrics, which has since largely been discarded. Sherman Theater
The Sherman Theater is a not-for-profit concert hall and community theater located on Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. History Construction on the Sherman Theater was completed in 1928. The building was severely damaged by fire on August 14, 1944. For the majority of the life of the building, it was used as both a vaudeville house and movie theater. The theater fell into disrepair in the 1990s after ownership changed hands several times over the decades. Renovation and re-opening: 2004 The renovation of the Sherman Theater was spearheaded by Richard and Catharine Berkowitz.
