The Lucky Country (EP)
' is the fifth extended play by Australian rock band, The Basics (band), the Basics. It was released, both digitally and on Compact disc, CD in stores, on 7 November 2014. The EP was recorded at Abbey Road Studios from 28 March to 2 April 2014, at the same time as the follow up studio album, ''The Age of Entitlement''. Two of the EP's tracks, "Tunaomba Saidia" and "Good Times, Sunshine!", also appear on that album. The music video for the title track debuted via the Facebook page for non-profit organisation, GetUp! The Basics (band)
The Basics ( ) are an Australian band, formed by Wally De Backer and Kris Schroeder in 2002, later joined by Tim Heath. Their style has been described as anything from 'indie-pop' to 'rock'n'roll', though their records show they span a wide range of genres, including reggae, pop-rock, folk, country, and electro-pop. They are "recognised as one of Australia's hardest-working bands". With well over 2500 shows under their belt, their live performances are well known for their energy, sense of humour and proto-punk sensibilities. Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. ''The Age of Entitlement'' is the fourth studio album by The Basics. It was released on 14 August 2015 both digitally and physically. The album title is pulled from the title of Australian Treasurer Joe Hockey's infamous 2014 budget speech. The album was the first after the band reunited in 2012, and followed the success of Wally de Backer as a solo artist under the name Gotye and a period of Kris Schroeder working in Kenya with the Red Cross. Wouter André "Wally" De Backer (born 21 May 1980), better known by his stage name Gotye ( ), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. The name "Gotye" is a pronunciation respelling of "Gauthier", the French cognate of his Dutch given name "Wouter".
