The Luck O' The Foolish
The Luck O' The Foolish is a 1924 silent black and white short American film starring Harry Langdon directed by Harry Edwards and produced by Mack Sennett. It was the first time Edwards directed Langdon. The title is a pun on "The Luck O' The Irish". Plot A steam train travels through the night. Onboard in a sleeping carriage are Mr and Mrs Newlywed: Harry and Marcie, in separate bunks. Marcie has rags tied in her hair to make curls. Harry is in the upper bunk. A different woman tries to get in and the conductor says she is at the wrong berth. Harry drops his belongings into the central aisle and goes down to pick them up. He does not spot the woman moving the steps to the next berth so when he goes back up he is in the wrong berth. She pushes him out and he kicks the guy opposite. The guard directs him to the correct berth and he checks below that his wife is there. He goes to get some water and trips over a foot. The guard shows him back. Harry Edwards (director)
Harry Edwards (October 11, 1887 - May 26, 1952) was a Canadian-born American film director and actor. He worked in films from the 1910s to the 1950s. Biography He was born in Calgary on 11 October 1887. He once worked for the now largely forgotten L-KO Kompany during the silent era. In his later years at Columbia Pictures, Edwards established a reputation as the studio's worst director. Both Vera Vague and the Three Stooges requested they not work with him. He is best remembered for his long collaboration with comedian Harry Langdon. He worked with Langdon in the 1920s in some of his best short films, and directed one of Langdon's best known films, the feature ''Tramp, Tramp, Tramp'' (1926). Langdon later became swell-headed with success and later dispensed with Edwards and Frank Capra, who also directed some of Langdon's most successful films, deciding he could direct himself. Madeline Hurlock (December 12, 1897 – April 4, 1989) was a silent film actress. Biography Madeline Hurlock was born on December 12, 1897 (some sources say 1899 or 1900), the daughter of John W. Hurlock, an engineer, and Sallie Hurlock. She was of English and Italian ancestry. Hurlock attended a finishing school in Philadelphia, after which she acted in a repertory theatre company there. In New York, Hurlock acted and danced in musical comedies at the Century Roof Garden and made her Broadway debut in the ensemble cast of ''The Rose of China'' in 1919. Kalla Pasha (born as Joseph T. Rickard; March 5, 1879 – June 10, 1933) was an American professional wrestler, vaudeville comedian, and film actor active during the silent era. Biography Kalla Pasha was the stage name of Joseph T. Rickard, a native of Detroit. Tiny Ward
Roscoe Samuel "Tiny" Ward (January 2, 1893 – September 12, 1956) was an American actor. He occasionally was billed as Jack "Tiny" Ward. Due to his appearance in several "classics" he is a fairly well-known face in film history. In the 1920s he worked primarily in Mack Sennett comedies, frequently under the direction of Harry Edwards and often supporting Harry Langdon. He also worked with Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and Lon Chaney. Life He was born on January 2, 1893, in Indian Point near Abingdon, Illinois the son of Roscoe E. Ward (1855-1925).
