The Love Of The Maharaja
''The Love of the Maharaja'' (german: Die Liebe des Maharadscha) is a 1936 German drama film directed by Arthur Maria Rabenalt and starring Gustav Diessl, Attila Hörbiger and Hilde von Stolz. It was made as a co-production between the Italian Astra Film and the Munich-based Bavaria Film. A separate Italian version ''A Woman Between Two Worlds'' was also produced. It was shot at the Cines Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Hans Ledersteger. Arthur Maria Rabenalt
Arthur Maria Rabenalt (25 June 1905 – 26 February 1993) was an Austrian film director, writer, and author. He directed more than 90 films between 1934 and 1978. His 1958 film ''That Won't Keep a Sailor Down'' was entered into the 1st Moscow International Film Festival. Two years later, his 1960 film ''Big Request Concert'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. His career encompassed both Nazi cinema and West German productions. He also wrote several books on the 1930s and 1940s wave of German cinema. Career In his early teens, Rabenalt began his stage career directing operas at theatres in Darmstadt, Berlin and Gera. From then on to the mid-1920s he worked (though uncredited) as a production assistant on several films such including G. W. Pabst's ''Joyless Street'' (1925). Isa Miranda (born Ines Isabella Sampietro; 5 July 1909 – 8 July 1982) was an Italian actress with an international film career. Biography Miranda was born Ines Isabella Sampietro in Milan, the daughter of atreet car conductor in Mian. When she was 10 years old, she began working as an errand girl for a dressmaker. She later had jobs in a box factory and a handbag factory. When she was 15, she was a model, a job that provided enough income for her to learn bookkeeping and typing in night school. She worked as a typist while attending the Accademia dei Filodrammatici in Milan and training as a stage actress. She went on to play bit parts in Italian films in Rome. The Società Italiana Cines (''Italian Cines Company'') is a film company specializing in production and distribution of films. The company was founded on 1 April 1906. A major force in the European film industry before the First World War, the company took part in the Paris Film Congress in 1909, a failed attempt to create a cartel similar to the MPPC in the United States. In 1926 the company was taken over by Stefano Pittaluga who oversaw production until his death in 1932. Emilio Cecchi served as head of production for a year following Pittaluga's death. In 1930, at the time of the rebirth of Italian cinema, the old label had produced The Song of Love, the first sound film in Italy. The new Cines Studios were constructed in Rome and functioned as the country's most important film studios until they were destroyed in a fire in 1935.
