''The Louder I Call, the Faster It Runs'' is the sixth studio album by indie band Wye Oak. It was released digitally on April 6, 2018 by Merge Records in the United States. Music videos On the day of the album's release, Wye Oak debuted the music video for the album title track "The Louder I Call, The Faster it Runs". The video was filmed by Dan Huiting, edited by Daniel Murphy, and included styling by Dear Hearts. The music video features Wasner and Stack wandering White Sands National Monument in New Mexico with various editing techniques to make it appear Wasner and Stack have mirages of themselves following them. A second video directed by Dan Huiting was launched on May 9, 2018 for the track "It Was Not Natural". Wye Oak (band)
Wye Oak is an American indie rock duo from Baltimore, Maryland, United States, composed of Andy Stack (drums, keyboards, backup vocals) and Jenn Wasner (vocals, guitars and bass). Their sound has been described as "earnest folk-influenced indie rock with touches of noise and dream pop" as well as indie folk. Wasner sings lead vocals and plays electric or acoustic guitar, while Stack plays both drums and keyboards, playing the drums with his feet and right hand, and the bass line with his left hand. History The band was formed as Monarch in mid-2006, before changing their name to Wye Oak, a reference to the former state tree of their home state of Maryland. John Congleton
John Congleton is an American Grammy Award-winning record producer, engineer, mixer, writer and musician. In addition to his production work, Congleton has fronted the alternative rock band the Paper Chase, and writes music for a newer project entitled the Nighty Nite. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Gregory Calbi (born April 3, 1949) is an American mastering engineer at Sterling Sound, New Jersey. Biography Greg Calbi was born on April 3, 1949, in Yonkers, New York, and raised in Bayside, Queens, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows. Calbi earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at Fordham University where he studied with Marshall McLuhan and his staff for 3 of those years. He then earned his master's degree in Political Media Studies (Speech Department) at the University of Massachusetts. Andy Stack (musician)
Andy Stack is one of the founding members of the indie-rock duo Wye Oak and a solo artist under the moniker Joyero, as well as a remix artist and a composer and producer for film and commercial music. He has also performed as a member of EL VY, and Lambchop. Early life Stack was born and raised outside of Baltimore, Maryland. He studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he originally focused on bass guitar and upright bass, and later at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Music career Stack and Jenn Wasner formed Wye Oak as a recording duo in 2006, but Stack had played in bands with Wasner before that, dating back to when they met as high school classmates. Jenn Wasner
Jennifer Lynn Wasner (born April 16, 1986) is an American musician from Baltimore, Maryland. Wasner is best known as one of the founding members of the band Wye Oak, along with Andy Stack. They have performed on tour with notable bands such as The National and The Decemberists. Wasner has completed numerous other music projects as well, including a solo project entitled Flock of Dimes, and a collaboration called Dungeonesse with Jon Ehrens of White Life and Art Department. Early life Wasner was born on April 16, 1986, in Baltimore, Maryland. She began singing at an early age with her mother, and eventually started taking classical piano lessons at the around the age of five.
