The Lost Lennon Tapes
''The Lost Lennon Tapes'' was an American music documentary series presented by Elliot Mintz, comprising a three-hour premiere episode and 218 one-hour episodes, broadcast on the Westwood One Radio Network between 24 January 1988 and 29 March 1992. The show had about 7 million listeners weekly, and was broadcast in six countries. Origin of the tapes John Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono, initiated this project to continue her husband's legacy for the fans and to share unreleased songs and recordings throughout the life of John Lennon. She wanted this series to not only appeal to Lennon fans, but also younger individuals interested in John Lennon or his creative process. Elliot Mintz
Elliot Mintz (born February 16, 1945) is an American consultant. In the 1960s and early 1970s Mintz was an underground radio disc jockeys, DJ and host. In the 1970s he became a spokesperson for John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and took on other musicians and actors as clients as a publicist, including Bob Dylan. He later became the publicist for Paris Hilton and Canadian drummer Neil Peart from Rush. Early life Mintz was born in the Bronx borough of New York City on February 16, 1945. In 1963 he moved to California to attend Los Angeles City College, partly inspired by the film ''The Misfits (1961 film), The Misfits'', where he studied broadcasting and began to do radio interviews. Strawberry Fields Forever
"Strawberry Fields Forever" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney. It was released on 13 February 1967 as a double A-side single with "Penny Lane". It represented a departure from the group's previous singles and a novel listening experience for the contemporary pop audience. Allan Kozinn (born July 28, 1954) is an American journalist, music critic, and teacher. Kozinn received bachelor's degrees in music and journalism from Syracuse University in 1976. He began freelancing as a critic and music feature writer for ''The New York Times'' in 1977, and joined the paper's staff in 1991. Before joining the ''Times'', he was a contributing editor to ''High Fidelity'' and ''Keynote'' magazines, and a frequent contributor to ''Guitar Player'', ''Keyboard'', ''Pulse'' and other publications. ''The John Lennon Collection'' is a 1982 posthumous compilation album of music from John Lennon's solo career. Release and selection The album was originally scheduled for release in late 1981, but was held back a year due to legalities owing to the fact that half the songs on the album were licensed to EMI and the other half, songs from ''Double Fantasy'', were licensed to Geffen. It was eventually released on 1 November 1982 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom, and on 8 November by Geffen in the United States.
