The Live Desk (Sky)
''The Live Desk'' is a news programme which broadcast on Sky News in the United Kingdom from 8 September 2008 to 2011. Originally, ''The Live Desk'' aired twice at 9am and 1pm but from 11 January 2011 the Live Desk's 1pm edition was cancelled and subsequently only one edition was broadcast at 9a.m., presented by Charlotte Hawkins with Gillian Joseph on Friday. The programme was replaced with a standard Sky News bulletin fronted by the same newscasters later in 2011. Format The programme was a 60-minute round-up of the day's news, sport, and business, rather than discussions, interviews, or features. It was loosely based on the Fox News Channel show '' The Live Desk''. The programme was characterized by the opening line "The Live Desk opens now". Colin Brazier
Colin Brazier (born 28 March 1968) is an English journalist, having previously worked for GB News between 2021 and 2022, and Sky News between 1997 and 2021. He presented ''Sky News Today'' on the channel alongside Jayne Secker since September 2014, but he presented a number of other programmes on the channel. Between 2005 and 2011, Brazier presented '' Saturday Live'' on the channel. In September 2022, in a shakeup of the GB News schedule, it was announced that his show, ''Brazier'', was to be replaced and Brazier himself was to leave the channel. Stephen Dixon (born 1 March 1974) is an English news presenter. Formerly presenting ''Sky News Sunrise'', '' Sky News at Seven'' and ''Sky News at Ten'' on Sky News, Dixon now co-presents ''Breakfast with Stephen and Anne'' on GB News. Gillian Angela Joseph (born 20 July 1969) is a British newscaster currently working for Sky News. Joseph is the anchor of weekend editions of ''Sky News at Ten''. Early life She was born in 1969 in Coventry, England. Her parents originated from Dominica in the Caribbean. Her parents returned to Dominica, where her mother worked as a teacher, but the family later returned to England. She has two daughters and a son.
