The Liberals (Italy)
The Liberals (''I Liberali'') is a liberal political party in Italy. The party was launched in February 2014 by a qualified group of liberals, including some splinters of the Italian Liberal Party (PLI). Renato Altissimo, Alfredo Biondi, Edoardo Croci (who was appointed president), Enrico Musso, Alessandro Ortis, Carlo Scognamiglio and Giuliano Urbani were among the most notable founding members. The Liberals, who presentend themselves to the public during a press conference in March, successfully sought to run in the 2014 European Parliament election within European Choice (SE), a joint list sponsored by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party. The Liberals' Musso stood as candidate for the party within SE in the North-West Italy European Parliament constituency, but was not elected as the list received a mere 0.7% nationally. Edoardo Croci (born 15 November 1961, Milan) is an Italian environmentalist and politician. Ecopass As Milan city Councilor for Mobility, Transport and the Environment, he introduced an innovative urban road pricing toll, related to fine dust emissions, to access the city centre since 2 January 2008. The Liberal Democratic Alliance for Italy (''Alleanza Liberaldemocratica per l'Italia'', ALI) is a liberal political party in Italy. ALI was launched in November 2013 by some leading members of Act to Stop the Decline (FFD), who disagreed with the political line traced by Michele Boldrin, FFD's new leader. These included Oscar Giannino (who led FFD in the 2013 general election), Alessandro De Nicola and Silvia Enrico. ALI's founders aimed at joining the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party (ALDE Party). In November 2013 ALI and Civic Choice (SC) signed a pact of permanent consultation. The Italian Republican Party ( it, Partito Repubblicano Italiano, PRI) is a liberal and social-liberal political party in Italy. Founded in 1895, the PRI is the oldest political party still active in Italy. The PRI has old roots and a long history that began with a left-wing position, claiming descent from the political thought of Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Garibaldi. The early PRI was also known for its anti-clerical, anti-monarchist republican and later anti-fascist stances. Emma Bonino (born 9 March 1948) is an Italian politician. A senator for Rome, she served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2014. Previously, she was a Member of the European Parliament and a member of the Chamber of Deputies. She served in the government of Italy as minister of international trade from 2006 to 2008. On 10 May 2016, he was appointed Minister of Economic Development in the government of Matteo Renzi and continued in that role in the government of Renzi's successor, Paolo Gentiloni.
