The Late Blossom
''The Late Blossom'' (french: Le soleil se lève en retard) is a 1977 Canadian drama film directed by André Brassard and written by his long-time collaborator, playwright Michel Tremblay. It was entered into the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. Plot 30-year-old Quebec City native Gisèle (Rita Lafontaine) lives a quiet life as a secretary without happiness with her parents and siblings. One day, tired of being teased by her office mates, she decides to consult a marriage agency to find her soul mate. André Brassard
André Brassard (28 August 1946 – 11 October 2022) was a Canadian stage director, filmmaker and actor, best known for staging the vast majority of Michel Tremblay's plays. He was the director of the French section of the National Arts Center from 1982 to 1989 and the National Theatre School from 1992 to 2000. Brassard's 1974 film ''Once Upon a Time in the East (1974 film), Once Upon a Time in the East'' was entered into the 1974 Cannes Film Festival. His 1977 film ''Le soleil se lève en retard'' was entered into the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. Brassard received a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for his lifetime contributions to Canadian theatre in 2002. Brassard was openly gay. He died on 11 October 2022, at the age of 76. François Tassé
François Tassé (August 11, 1774 – August 6, 1832) was a merchant and political figure in Lower Canada. He represented Effingham in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1820 to 1824. He was born François-Amable Tassé in Saint-Martin, Quebec, the son of Charles Tassé and Élisabeth Bisson. He was a merchant on ÃŽle Jésus. In 1792, he married Élisabeth Leblanc.
