Tha Dogg Pound
Tha Dogg Pound is an American hip hop duo made up of rappers Kurupt and Daz Dillinger. They were signed to Death Row Records in their early careers and were key to the label's success. Kurupt and Daz went on to release solo albums starting in 1998. They eventually left the crumbling Death Row Records in 1999. Daz left due to long-lasting internal struggles on the label after friend and labelmate Tupac Shakur's murder in 1996. Kurupt started Antra Records, while Daz and Soopafly started D.P.G. Recordz. In 2002 a feud arose between the two when Kurupt decided to sign back with Death Row Records, upsetting everyone involved with the group. His awaited Death Row release ''Against Tha Grain'' had been postponed several times while Kurupt was on the label, later being released in August 2005, after he was off. West Coast hip hop is a regional genre of hip hop music that encompasses any artists or music that originated in the West Coast region of the United States. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Many gangsta rappers flaunt associations with real street gangs, like the Crips and Bloods. Daz Dillinger
Delmar Drew Arnaud (born May 25, 1973), known professionally as Daz Dillinger (formerly Dat Nigga Daz and commonly Daz), is an American rapper and record producer. In the 1990s at Death Row Records, aided the catapult of West Coast rap and gangsta rap into the mainstream. He is one half of the rap duo tha Dogg Pound, along with Kurupt. Daz learned production from Dr. Dre in working on Dre's debut solo album, ''The Chronic'', in 1992. Daz did more on Snoop Dogg's debut solo album ''Doggystyle'' in 1993, and secured his production standing on 2Pac's ''All Eyez on Me'' in 1996. Since leaving Death Row around 2000, Daz has focused on his own releases through his D.P.G. Recordz. ''Death Row Presents... Tha Dogg Pound 2002'' is the first compilation album by American West Coast hip hop group Tha Dogg Pound. It was released on July 31, 2001 by Death Row Records and D3 Entertainment. It comprises unreleased material recorded by Tha Dogg Pound while they were signed on to Death Row Records, remixed and updated by the then-head producer Cold 187um. Tha Dogg Pound were signed to Daz Dillinger's D.P.G. Recordz and released their own album that year called '' Dillinger & Young Gotti'' under DPG alias. The album title is meant to imply it is a sequel or response of sorts to Dr. Dre's '' 2001''. The album cover has pictures of Daz and Kurupt from the Death Row family picture. Jamarr Antonio Stamps (November 27, 1975 – November 11, 2019), better known by his stage name Bad Azz, was an American rapper and member of Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Crips. Life and career Jamarr Antonio Stamps was born in Hawaiian Gardens, California, and grew up in Long Beach. He began his career rapping at house parties and joined the LBC Crew. After having a guest verse on the Tupac song "Krazy" in 1996 he was set to sign to Tupac's proposed record label, Makaveli Records. After being briefly signed to Snoop Dogg's label Doggystyle Records, Bad Azz made various guest performances before debuting on Priority Records in 1998 with '' Word on tha Streets''. Inga DeCarlo Fung Marchand (born September 6, 1978), better known by her stage name Foxy Brown, is an American rapper. After signing to Def Jam in 1996, she released her debut album, '' Ill Na Na'', later that year on November 19, 1996. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. She was also part of the hip hop supergroup the Firm, along with Nas, AZ and Cormega (who was later replaced by Nature). Outlawz (formerly known as Outlaw Immortalz) are an American hip hop group founded by rapper Tupac Shakur in late 1995 after Shakur's release from prison. Collectively, they were best known for their association with Shakur. Most of the group members are named after political figures.
