''The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We'' is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Mitski, released on September 15, 2023, through Dead Oceans. Produced by Patrick Hyland, it was recorded at the Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville and Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. The album was promoted by the release of the singles "Bug Like an Angel", "Star" / "Heaven" and " My Love Mine All Mine" through July to October 2023, the latter being one of Mitski's most successful songs to date. ''The Land Is Inhospitable'' was received with unanimous praise by critics, who appreciated the emotional rawness of Mitski's lyrics as well as the stripped-down nature of the music. Mitski Miyawaki (born Mitsuki Laycock; September 27, 1990), known professionally by the mononym Mitski, is a Japanese-born American singer-songwriter. Mitski self-released her first two albums, '' Lush'' (2012) and '' Retired from Sad, New Career in Business'' (2013), while studying studio composition at Purchase College's Conservatory of Music. Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso (; born 7 August 1942) is a Brazilian composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. Veloso first became known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo, which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship that took power in 1964. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. Jack Saunders (born 24 September 1992) is a British radio DJ and TV presenter who currently hosts the late-night show on BBC Radio 1. Career Radio Saunders studied Broadcast Journalism at Nottingham Trent University, graduating in 2014. He managed the university's student radio station, during which time it won seven student radio awards. Starting in June 2014, Saunders hosted the 10am to 1pm Sunday slot on Kerrang! Radio. He started at Radio X in 2015, hosting the early weekend breakfast show. He went on to cover various shows, including ''The Chris Moyles Show'', and then hosted the mid-morning slot until April 2018. Contemporary folk music refers to a wide variety of genres that emerged in the mid 20th century and afterwards which were associated with traditional folk music. Starting in the mid-20th century a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This process and period is called the (second) folk revival and reached a zenith in the 1960s.
