The Krofft Superstar Hour
''The Krofft Superstar Hour'' is a Saturday morning children's variety show, produced by Sid and Marty Krofft. After eight episodes, the show was renamed ''The Bay City Rollers Show.'' It aired for one season from September 9, 1978 to January 27, 1979 on NBC. NBC also ran other repeat Krofft shows in an unrelated umbrella titled slot, ''Krofft Superstars'', from 1978 to 1985. Background The show is essentially a reworking of ''The Krofft Supershow'', replacing the fictitious band "Kaptain Kool and the Kongs" with the real life Bay City Rollers. Just as on the previous show, the Rollers would perform comedy skits and musical numbers, and introduce the live action segments. The Bay City Rollers' segment also featured a character called Mr. Munchy in the main segment. The regular live-action segments were "Horror Hotel" and "The Lost Island." Sid And Marty Krofft
Sid Krofft (born July 30, 1929) and Marty Krofft (born April 9, 1937) are a Canadian sibling team of television creators and puppeteers. Through their production company, Sid & Marty Krofft Pictures, they have made numerous children's television and variety show programs in the U.S., particularly in the 1970s, including ''H.R. Pufnstuf'' , ''Land of the Lost'' and ''Sigmund and the Sea Monsters'' . Their fantasy programs often feature large-headed puppets, high-concept plots, and extensive use of low-budget special effects. Early life Baird was born August 16, 1943 Seattle, Washington to Eldon Baird, an aerospace worker, and Nikki Marcus, a future talent agent. Stuart John “Woody” Wood (born 25 February 1957), is a Scottish musician, songwriter and producer. Career Wood is best known as the guitarist for the 1970s band the Bay City Rollers since joining in 1974. During the 1970s, the Bay City Rollers would garner immense popularity, which would be nicknamed Rollermania (the name inspired by that of Beatlemania. Bay City Rollers original members, Derek Longmuir, Alan Longmuir, Les McKeown and Eric Faulkner, have all left the band at certain points from the early 1980s to 2016, leaving Wood as the only member from the classic era still touring as the Bay City Rollers. He remains active with his new generation Bay City Rollers and also behind the scenes in the music industry, producing music through The Music Kitchen.
