The Kinison
The Kinison is a rock band formed in Oblong, Illinois, in 1999. The band is named after American comedian Sam Kinison. History In late January 2002, the band headed to California in search of a new bass player and drummer. Initially, they hired bass player Tim Milhouse and drummer Mikey Rivera, both friends of their then manager Bill Fold. When Tim Milhouse left the band, they recruited bassist Frank Figueroa, from a band called 401 Waterman. Frank played bass on the band's debut EP, ''Mortgage is Bank''. Soon after recording, Frank quit The Kinison to find work as a registered nurse. The trio soon recruited Mike V and Mikey to complete the band. After 9 months of playing tiny shows in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles area, they landed a spot on the indie rock festival This Ain't No Picnic. Oblong, Illinois
Oblong is a village in Crawford County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,466 at the 2010 census, and then was later recorded to be 1,371 in the 2020 census. History Oblong was incorporated in 1883. The original town site was on a naturally occurring oblongular prairie, hence the name. The crossroads at the town site was the location of a general store owned by Henry Peck. The prominent sign "Hen. Peck" gave rise to the village's original moniker, Henpeck. Travis Landon Barker (born November 14, 1975) is an American musician who serves as the drummer for the rock band Blink-182. He has also performed as a frequent collaborator with hip hop artists, is a member of the rap rock group Transplants, cofounded the rock band +44, and joined Box Car Racer, Antemasque and Goldfinger. DollaBill Tour was a mini-concert tour by rock band Blink-182. Launched in support of the group's 2003 album ''Blink-182'', the tour visited clubs in November 2003. As the name implies, tickets for the tour cost only $1. The series was supported by rapper Bubba Sparxxx and rock band the Kinison. Background The band initially wanted the tour to be free, but venues asked the group to charge a dollar in consideration with safety concerns.
