''The King in Yellow'' is the ninth studio album by the Dead Milkmen The Dead Milkmen is an American punk rock band formed in 1983 in Philadelphia. Their original lineup consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Rodney Linderman ("Rodney Anonymous"), guitarist and vocalist Joe Genaro ("Joe Jack Talcum"), bassist Da .... It was their first studio album in 16 years. It was released digitally on the band's website in 2011; a CD release followed shortly thereafter. Production The band started working on new material after their reunion in 2008. The album was recorded in two weekend sessions in November and December 2010 at South Street Sounds and Miner Street Studios. In February 2011, the album was mixed at Miner Street Studios by Brian McTear. The Dead Milkmen is an American punk rock band formed in 1983 in Philadelphia. Release The compilation contains two previously unreleased songs: "Milkmen Stomp" and "Labor Day". The band was unable to include tracks from ''Soul Rotation'' and ''Not Richard, But Dick'', as Hollywood Records still retained the rights. It takes its name from an early cassette-only release. Pretty Music For Pretty People
''Pretty Music for Pretty People'' is the tenth studio album by the Dead Milkmen, released in 2014. It is their second studio album since reuniting in 2008. The album includes the four limited-release singles that followed 2011's '' The King in Yellow'': ("Dark Clouds Gather Over Middlemarch", "Big Words Make the Baby Jesus Cry", "The Great Boston Molasses Flood", and "Welcome to Undertown"), and most of the b-sides from those singles, which first appeared in 2012 and 2013, in addition to previously unreleased songs. It was released on CD on the Quid Ergo Records imprint, and digitally by the band on their website on October 7, 2014. A limited edition LP with the title ''Pretty Music For Pretty Special People'' was also released by Quid Ergo, containing only the previously unreleased songs, plus the "C-Sides" from the singles which had until then only been available digitally. ''Alternative Press'' is an American entertainment magazine primarily focused on music and culture, now based in Los Angeles, CA. It generally provides readers with band interviews, photos, and relevant news. It was founded in 1985 by Mike Shea in Cleveland, OH. The company is now looked after by MDDN. Beginnings The first issue of ''Alternative Press'' was distributed at concerts in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in June 1985 by ''APs founder, Mike Shea to advocate bands playing underground music. The name for the magazine, ''Alternative Press'', was not a reference to the alternative rock genre, but referred to the fanzine being an alternative to the local press. Anthony Joseph "Joe" Genaro (born October 15, 1962 in Wagontown, Pennsylvania) is an American musician and songwriter, best known as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist for the punk rock group The Dead Milkmen. Residing in Philadelphia, Genaro has performed with a number of punk and indie rock groups, most recently including The Low Budgets, and is also a solo artist. Career With the Dead Milkmen (1983–1995) The Dead Milkmen formed in 1983, evolving out of a home-recording project with a mythological back story that Genaro had begun in 1979. The members of the group regularly employed pseudonyms, and Genaro most frequently called himself "Joe Jack Talcum" (stemming from the character of Jack Talcum that Genaro had imagined as the leader of the band in their mythology) in the context of the group, although he also used the pseudonyms "Butterfly Fairweather" and "Jasper Thread" on certain records. Rodney Linderman (born 21 May 1963), also known by his stage name Rodney Anonymous, is an American musician, journalist, and humorist currently based in Philadelphia. He is best known as the lead vocalist, keyboardist and co-songwriter of the satirical punk rock band The Dead Milkmen. Early life and education Linderman grew up in Wagontown, Pennsylvania. He attended Coatesville Area High School with future bandmate Joe Genaro. In 1984, while Linderman was a sophomore at West Chester University, he and a classmate were prevented from entering a talent competition because the lyrics to the song they intended to sing - "''Jesus Entering from the Rear''" - were considered by administrators to be "gross" and "counterproductive to the goals of the competition." Dean Sabatino
Dean Sabatino (born 21 May 1962) is an American musician, best known as Dean Clean, the drummer of the satirical punk rock group the Dead Milkmen. Sabatino lives with his family in Media, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Having earned a degree in commercial art, Clean designed the album covers for the band's releases, including the cover art for their 1985 debut album '' Big Lizard in My Backyard''. Career After playing with groups in high school, Sabatino formed Narthex, a two-piece new wave band, in 1980. The band failed to release a proper album before its split three years later, but a 1982 recording session was eventually remixed and released as the ''Twin Cities'' album in 2006.
